Okay, Let me get something straight cause I assume this post also comments on what I said on your status on DOAW.
Nobody dislikes ANYONE for liking the games sexual nature, hell I myself find atleast five of the girls sexually attractive and buy swimsuits for them.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought if the phrase "/ discussion" was used, that the person would not be drug by their hair back for another person to "spike the ball"? Nevertheless, I now feel obligated to answer this.
The problem is when there is just simply too much of it, two or three swimsuit packs? fine I'm down with that but adding unrealistically bouncy boob physics, SEVEN swimsuit packs some which I thought I'd never see in a mainstream DOA game (Helena's Godfather and Lisa's newest Mariposa one) and softcore gravure movies that are not only inexcusably expensive and pointless IMO 40 secs of the girl of choice splashing in the ocean lol wtf is that about?
This actually had almost nothing to do with the post I wrote, believe it or not. I don't really have a problem with the swimsuits because keep in mind, you are talking about seven packs over three games. You have DOA 5 vanilla, DOA 5 Plus on the Vita and DOA 5 Ultimate. What my point was, was simply this: I got a lot of grief over just admitting that I liked the idea of sex appeal and a decent fighter. It's a balance that is hard to maintain, but I was basically told that the majority of people only like the way you do your punches and kicks. Now fast forward to Number 13's dissertation and the idea that we shouldn't trust the majority because they only want T&A. I was simply pointing out a logical error.
The DOA 5/DOA 5+ were all bundled into one, and the DOA 5U I think adds two or three packs, IIRC. The game is only giving to people that are selling.
It's also bad when most of the sexualisation and casual aspects take over the actual game, as we all know casual or not the core game isn't in the best place right now we have characters that just completely dominate because they're so high up the ladder and then we have some wonky mids and then we have characters that can only just barely hold their own, and the netcode although light years better than vanilla, it's still mediocre compared to most fighters.
Before I settled on DOA 5U, I tried a number of games and almost all of them had the same problem. IN fact, Tekken Revolution is worse because nearly 90% of online players play either Law, Kazuma or Lili. (Lili is only played by beginners but even the experts are finding Law as the go-to player, with over 60% of the players playing as him).
The point I was making is that apparently the sex appeal sells. I didn't buy the gravure videos because I'd rather make the girls wear the costumes and fight than just watch a video of them doing things like that. But you can't deny they're selling -- if they weren't, TN wouldn't put them in the game.
I think we can agree that TN needs two different groups of individuals. One that works on the individual fighting aspects of the game, specifically that they keep characters from being too powerful, the second group are the ones who can work on the sexualization aspect. It's apparently working because even with sales of close to 1 million for Core Fighters, the game is selling a lot in DLC. Meaning even if too many people aren't buying the game, TN is still making money.
Do I think there's an overkill? Yes. Personally I think that there should be 3 or 4 different skimpy swimsuits per girl and you can customize the color scheme for each one, but you see what happens when you do that (SoulCalibur 5 has come under fire for characters being able to make a naked character).
