They say there's no such thing as bad publicity. These responses make me wonder just how many people realize that Maneki's applying this logic in full force.

bad publicity exists don't kid yourself, Lindsey lohan is a prime example
The phrase doesn't mean that it's impossible to have a bad reputation. It simply means that any bad reputation can be used to your advantage. The GTA series is a prime example of this, owing its current popularity almost entirely to the controversy surrounding it. Similarly, Senran Kagura Burst had a rather noticeable boost in popularity in Europe, thanks to an article that declared it sexist and damaging to the gaming industry. In this case, I'm simply saying that as long as people continue to respond to him, he has no reason to leave.

So... uh, I have a question....

Why is Irene a supposed "Most likely" to be added into DOA5U? to me, I'd say with her it's more a case of wishful thinking. Apart from the fact we've never seen her fight- half the time she's just flying around in a helicopter giving people missions through a communications device.

If we're talking "most likely" to be added. The only 4 possibilities are Tengu, a VF character, Yaiba, or a new character altogether.

Nikki, Irene, Miss Monday and Miyako... I'm curious as to how these guys are "most likely" when they have shown no signs of actually being able to fight...

How did people come to the conclusion that they have a high chance of being added after Phase-4? I'm legitimately curious.

I've seen just about as many Irene requests on Twitter as Tengu. Considering that the other two Ninja Gaiden girls were added in and that TN likes just about everyone more than Tengu, Irene has a high chance of getting in.

Hmm, it's not a great comparison imo. Tengu, was a previously available character so he makes sense- but Irene. I don't get it. Momiji & Rachel have both been playable characters in the NG series, and have shown they're more than capable of defending themselves. Irene has shown no signs of being able to handle herself. If she could fight, she wouldn't really send people on the missions as opposed to doing them herself. Which is why I find the thought of her more wishful thinking as opposed to legitimately being a "most likely" to be added.

A billion people have also requested loose hair Rachel, yet that's no where in sight.... and it's much more simple than an entire character model + creating a unique style for them.

Tengu, Yaiba & the VF characters all have base models & styles set out for them. It's really just a case of update & tweak with them.

Not wishful thinking on my part, lol.

People who shouldn't be able to fight are always made able to fight in fighting games. For instance, Rachel demonstrates no hand-to-hand combat knowledge in NG, but here she is in DOA, fully competent with her twirls and swirls. And Sonia/Irene can fight. She shoots some black spider ninja with handguns, blows up some tac ninjas with an RPG, etc. She's just not good at it compared to Ryu. Then again, neither was Rachel.

How did people come to the conclusion that they have a high chance of being added after Phase-4? I'm legitimately curious.
Space on the website. Some ambiguous/vague comments from TN hinting at it. Refusal to accept that DOA5U's final legacy will be another boring Kasumi clone.

Anyway, Jaguar kinda answered it.

That's probably pushing it. He has a style involving weapons and cyborg firepower. If people didn't like Genra, then Yaiba probably wouldn't fare that much better.

Irene is a CIA member. She can likely fight, but just not "punch giant demons and hordes of ninjas in the face" tier. Not quite as applicable in this game as I doubt anyone in the game besides the ninjas would be on that level.

Yea but Brad didn't grab Ayane, throw her over his shoulder, tie her to a tree, then have her a knife point. But I see where you're going with this, this is DoA we're talking about here... logic doesn't apply.

Knowing TN's track record, what the fuck do you think they're going to pick IF they decide to add another character that's not another fucking OMGWTFKASUMILOOKALIKECLONE?

Irene a.k.a boobs or Tengu a.k.a that weird monster?

If I remember... it went something like this

Hayate and Ryu were brawlin' it out
Ayane shows up destroying the fun as usual
She says that Irene was kidnapped
A few feet below you see Christie with Irene tied up on top of her shoulder
She runs off
Stupid ninjas dumbfounded
She get's tied up
Ryu beats up Christie because y'know... he's a ninja

Like I said, with no previous signs of fighting. I don't really think the use of a gun is enough to state they are capable of defending themselves in a hand to hand fight. Until I see her literally hit something, I'm going to be skeptical of her capabilities.

Oh, no. I doubt Phase-4 will be the final character. But I doubt Irene will be the next character either. What were the hints though, if you don't mind me asking?

She can? Then how did Christie nab her so easily in Dimensions?

This.

The same reason why Brad can just walk up and grope Ayane without getting his head chopped off, probably.

Ayane isn't a psycho killer. She wouldn't cut his head off for touching her butt. She can come off as a lil bitchy but she's not an evil character -_-;; I'm pretty sure with Ayane it's all a front... buuuut that's just my opinion.

~ My main point is I don't see why she's most likely to be the next character after Phase-4. Tengu or a VF character seems to be the only logical option to me. In regards to "Most likely" anyway. Most wanted, maybe Irene can fit in there.

Honestly, I just wish the fucking NG characters stay in NG and DOA characters stay in DOA.

Enough with the crossovers. I know they're not fond of making actual new characters as much as bringing back old ones, but just let Ryu and Ayane be the only one in both.

Kasumi in NG, Momiji/Rachel in DOA. DOA6 new character will be Irene I guess and Hayate will be the new playable character in NG4.

Again, Rachel fights with a hammer and gun. There's no evidence in NG she knows any hand-to-hand combat. As a CIA operative, it is MANDATORY that Irene have taken hand-to-hand/unarmed combat training).

You can be skeptical, but I'm skeptical of a lot of these characters. I mean really? A random geisha can hold her own against Jann Lee? Some of these people fight Hayabusa and live? In the end, TN just adds whatever boobs they want and somehow they can all conveniently fight. So it's whatever to me. :p

Somebody actually made a nice little list of it earlier. I almost wanna say it was Jaguar, David Gregg or Kronin. Might want to ask one of them, as I think they put it much clearer than I would.

I was being facetious. My point was if a drunk dude can get the drop on a trained ninja assassin without major, immediate consequences for him, it's not that farfetched for a CIA agent and an assassin to go at it and have the CIA agent lose, especially if there was chloroform or a tranquilizer dart or something involved.
