One thing you have to remember now is that the original 4 games stories are no longer canon for the most part, Dimensions was DOA1-4 retold by Hayashi since he had taken over Team Ninja and he told it the way he wanted to tell it thus giving him a reasoning to give characters different relationships, thus most of the good interactions were actually retconned such as Hayabusa and Jann Lee's friendly rivalries as well as the rivalry he had with Hitomi in DOA3.

The only thing that was kept was the major stuff and even some of that was retconned haha such as Hayabusa losing but also winning the battle with Hayate in DOA3 as well as just having Irene there because lol Ninja Gaiden.

So what I'm trying to say is this, no matter how fucking awful Dimensions' story was and a plain butchering of the original canon one thing we have to remember is that butchered canon is the new official canon and thats how we got DOA5's canon ooh boy.

Meh, I'm cool with the new canon tbh. I can get why some people don't like their characters changing though, I guess.

The story is the only thing that makes me wish that Dimensions was on a console, just so that there could be enough space to tell all of the characters' stories in one game. I'd like to know more details about the tournaments. Dimensions 2 next generation anyone?

Put it on the portable.

In general, I'm not really fond of simply playing as 5 characters simply because they are story-relevant characters. I'd like it if we get story mode customization options (like being able to choose a costume and other accessories before starting a chapter).

I absolutely loved that DOAD was portable aside from the story aspect. Hopefully the 4DS Lite Color XL and/or PSP3 will be able to support the stories for the entire cast.

That is what generally an arcade mode is for. Story is irrelevant in arcade so you can do all the customization you want with whatever character you want regardless of plot significance.

However story is essentially reading a book to learn about the pre-destined plot line, character significance/interactions,etc.You can't just cross out story details and replace them with your own words in the the book. Only way this can work is if TN does interactive choice trees in the future which I doubt because it will invite a new host of problems like which is the "canon ending".

I agree DoAD storytelling wasn't the greatest in telling the new canon, but what was the old canon again? It left you with a bunch of questions that didn't explain most details properly because the "plot" back then during the Itagaki era was an afterthought.

Wasn't hitomi just not in the movie at all? I remember watching a vid where it pointed out all the characters and she was in one very short shot and never seen again

I just think that having a little option to customize the character you are suppose to use for a certain would have been great imo. I mean, not everyone would like to play as a Jester Hitomi or Clown Zack.

She was a man in the DOA movie.

Welp. ninja turtles got me into weapons training, sonic got me into running, dragonball got me in shape, and now 15 years later, Mila got me into MMA. took a free lesson at a ufc gym. turns out it was an MMA Cardio workout, and I haven't done a real excercise regimen in about 6 years. oh my GOD ow. rrelaxing at the white lime across from the gym lol. why didn't they show Mila doing this in story mode lol. "and now for frozen yogurt, I'm getting Mango tango!"

And then there was the mario movie...
I actually liked that movie. to me, best vg movies would be Mario, Mortal Kombat, and Silent hill (even though i haven't actually seen it). SF is a runner up. II wonder if Van Damme ever realized he played a character inspired by a nazi?

Don't really hate much of the new canon at all EXCEPT for how Kasumi needed Ryu's help to defeat Raidou when she did it on her own and Ayane got help from Hayate and THEY got help from Ryu AGAIN to defeat Genra...

It just takes away from their moments of showing they are killers and easily has the potential to be an equal to Ryu Hayabusa one day. Them getting bailed out like that is just infuriating because it takes away what they have done and what they went through. Losing the randomly small interactions isn't really a huge deal to me in the end as they never really connected or anything even remotely close to something I can call a bond, and some of the better moments in Dimensions(showing how emotionally crippled Ayane truly is) strikes me far more than ANYTHING in her DOA2 counterpart(which is try too damn hard villain mode).
