On the grand scheme of things, as long as a character plays differently (even if there moveset is a variant of someone else's like with Bayman/Leon) they added roughly the same amount of new gameplay to the game so it doesn't matter if you call their fighting style Hapkido or Krav Maga or what. Especially when some styles aren't really presented like their real world counterpart anyways (ie. Systema). Theoretically, Jo Hayabusa could show up with the same style as Ryu and yet not share a single move with him.

So I fail to see how there being more fighting styles existing in the real world being a reason that they should focus on creating entirely new characters instead of using the cast they've got.

Furthermore, given the limited time window until September, if they were to build a new moveset from scratch it would take more of their time meaning we get less characters overall. I'd prefer more characters using old movesets (ie. Tengu) or variants of existing movesets (ie. Hayate > Shiden, Ein > Hitomi's Dad, etc.) with maybe only one more entirely new moveset (for an NPC promoted to playable, like Irene).

Save the enitrely new characters for DoA6, let's get everyone's character in DoA5 before it's over.

Besides, it's all going to start over again with DoA6 when they cut Leon/Ein/Tengu/whoever again and people have to beg to get them added back again, so it'd be nice to have a version that at least has all the current playstyles for the time being.

Yeah but majority of the characters not in now are quite bleh, no use bring back those characters when we could fet brand new exciting ones

Triple posting much? It may be "bleh" to you but for others, it's a crisis not having their character on the roster.

Sorry mod(not), and yeah sorry but majority of them are. And since when is the last time anyone said "Oh Shiden just has to be in DOA5U"?

My point is that me and many others would rather see brand new faces who'd add something new to DOA as opposed to characters such as. Not saying it can't go both ways, but we most likely are only getting three more characters, one of them being Tengu. And wouldn't it be better to make brand new characters adding excitement and finishing off the game perfectly be better then returning two bosses or Shiden who are underated, liked by a minority, and are "probrably" forgetable? I think so

There is Kasumi.

Yes... but I can't really play Kasumi. Yet. (I can barely play Mila as it is... well, I guess I can, I'm lacking fundamentals though, which are absurdly required to play Mila and that's why I stick to her instead of starting to learn Kasumi right away, so I learn them the hard way... but that's a story for another day.)

Finishing the game off perfectly means having the entire cast back.

Especially since Omega was the final boss of DoA3 (which was a lot of people's first DoA game due to the giant advertising push Microsoft gave it to promote the XBox) but he has only gotten to be playable on a handheld.

I'd also take Ayane's father and adopted father as characters long before I'd take some random nobody who won't have hardly any story for another few years when DoA6 or whatever comes out.

Having all the characters together in the console game is far more exciting than leaving some out in exchange for some nobody.

If you were arguing bring forward some NPCs (Irene, Rio, etc.) that would be one thing, but I don't see any point to creating entirely brand new characters for the last few remaining slots when there are plenty of existing characters to use already in the DoA universe.

Of course, I'm beginning to suspect some people don't actually care about the DoA universe as much as they do about eye candy. In which case, why cater to them if they aren't fans of the franchise? These last few slots should be a thank you to the fans to tide them over for the few years until the next game.

Holy crap I hadn't realized how hot Mila looks in the xmas costume until I randomly got it.

The princess means the world to me <3

Edit: I should add to that small lettering, Kasumi is easier to win with at the lowbie ranks... but because of it, it may create bad habits. I rather build my fundamentals first with Mila which requires strong ones (since I also like the character). That is also the way my numerous senpai advised me.

Look I'm not even gonna talk about it anymore, you are entitled to your opinion/preferance. But don't get upset when the next character is a brand new male or female who'd make they game appeal even more as oppose to the three dimensions characters.

Just to finish off, when Marie Rose was released, many people were excited for her and wanted to know more about her and she gained fans instantly. Phase 4 also was very liked but there were mainly mixed reactions. Yeah she was new and was different from Kasumi but wasn't near making people as excited as Marie Rose did.

You also have to remember these characters start of as DOA5U Arcade characters, and TN is trying to get people to play it. Not saying no one would be interested in them, but if you think Shiden or the past bosses are gonna make people want to play the game more or even just as much as Marie Rose or any brand new character would then that's when delusion kicks in a bit.

So people who want them back are considered delusional for thinking a boss featured as a staple comeback character in old games wouldn't bring excitement?

Either your misinterpreting or cherry picking what I am saying. Never did I say that someone was delusional for thinking an old boss would add excitement nor was I even close to something like that. What I said was that if one is to think that brining back the characters "that I said" would add more excitement and make people want to play this at the arcades or more eager to buy them more then a brand new character "as far as doa goes and not in general", then that's when delusion like thoughts start to kick in, not actually delusional.

I mean...I think we've attracted a certain "type" of players with the introduction of MR who wouldn't have played the game otherwise unfortunately. Tina Chan and given how characters are sexualized may bring in another crowd as well and I don't think I really want that. :p
