Sigh. I know. I know. But they didn't even try that time. They just took away his best tool, buffed an air throw that is almost impossible to even land and called it a day.

So Tengu came from somewhat good maybe in DOA2, then became worse in DOA4, I heard he lost tools in DOA2U before 4 reamed him and DOAD basically killed him...

At this point, I'm more wondering why you guys want Tengu back at this rate since TN would have made all of his attacks and movements just make him quote his lines at this rate.

His 8K in DOA2 was godly. And because of the health setting in that game, he was really good.

We liked his design, charisma and persona in addition to his fighting style. He was so arrogant and confident for looking like such a goofball. Then he takes his shirt off and he's literally the most ripped dude in the cast. It was especially cool in DOA4, where he was garbage tier. Because he'd act like he was the coolest shit on Earth, despite looking goofy, moving goofy, acting goofy and having the worst move/toolset in the game.

The juxtaposition was just brilliant. The only other fighting game character that comes close to offering what Tengu did, imo, is Yoshimitsu.

Yes. I doubt she could do well against a fast character, or someone like Helena, Rachel, etc. But she is definitely better than DOA4 Tengu. Take that as you will.

I honestly had no problems even against the most aggressive Kasumis in DOA4. Tengu may have been shit but he could still win as long as you played him right. A lot of DOA players try to get flashy, which is the complete opposite of Tengu's style. Outside of throws there are literally only 5 moves I ever used and they did the trick

Anything Tengu does is flashy. You don't have a choice. You must be flashy.

Flash flash!

And if they have any sense of plot twist, they'd make him inhabit the body of a poor (but beautiful) Japanese girl so he can feel competent, win the tournament, and justify his 'holier-than-thou' behavior.

Yeah, DOA5 was a much more popular game. And the way it was set up, you could do well with every character. You just had to put much more effort in to win with Tengu.

He felt more than competent as his good ol' ugly self.

"Competent" is a downgrade.

Glad to see 9PT remained in tact.

Again folks, no need to bring up Rachel/Spartan. That was a slight move inheritance with a completely different playstyle. This is basically every single move (plus more) being handed down.

How godly was that? Like made him extremely safe? Great pokes? Great combo starter? All of the above?

Okay, I can understand all of that. I'm just not a fan of his design like you guys are(I guess I'm in the more fantastical area than the typical).

No, no, no way man. Let her be her own character and not be inhabited by him(if it's atleast more like the typical Shonen possession then maybe, but not basically making her nothing more than his shell).

It really ruins both characters as Bankotsubo could only come back as a female to be relevant while it just demeans her in the process.

Guys, it was +3 on block, not -3. It also gave full launch height on normal hit. His 7KP also did 50 damage, and he could use it in pretty much all his juggles. And if you tried to wakeup-kick him you'd get hit by a divebomb that also did 50 damage. AND spacing against him was a pain because of his fast backflips that also have a safe follow-up.

DOA2U Tengu was a pretty scary guy.
