I don't think anyone would be silly enough to spend money on a character when they could simply work to unlock them...just like the good old days :)

depends on the requirement for unlocking them. the problem about these type of things is that you usually need to be good, im a best decent so im lucky to win even half of my matches. where as someone who is good could probably earn enough points in a week it would probably take me a month at which point 5$ is worth skipping the grind.

I disagree, people want secret characters they just don't want to pay for them.

By having the game come out with one unlockable character they could be a good way to show even the people who've missed all the news what's happening with the characters this time.

The very first thing they should see is that locked character and told explicitly how to unlock them. you need to get that info out before they stumble across the bad info and start screaming about on disc locked characters.
Then you end up pissing off the community that actually told you not to do this kind of thing.

Honestly, aside from the pay option, the only other way to handle locked characters, is to make them unlocked by default in versus mode like Skullgirls (where the two "locked" characters are only locked in singleplayer/story modes).

You forget about tournament organizers and players who simply want to use a character for competition without having to spend pointless time in singleplayer.

Also, I know a good number of people (including Skullgirls lead developer Mike Z) who, when presented with the option to either unlock or buy, simply opted to buy the content because they found the idea of having to play singleplayer to unlock content for multiplayer stupid.

I don't mind DLC working this way to be honest. I would rather have the option to "unlock OR buy" then not to have it even if I fall into the camp that would most likely buy.

Street Fighter 5 will be at NYC Comic Con and an exclusive Sakura Kotobukiya statue will be sold their

People are speculating that she is in the SF5 roster.

Wouldn't be surprised since she is a character you'd expect in an SF game, plus she looks older here especially in comparison to how she usually looks.

What I don't get about shotos is just because they have the same basic three moves why in the hell do they all have to have the same animations especially the Spinning kick which still looks dumb as hell to this day.

Those moves have been done many different ways hell everyone in Persona arena had their own unique DP

All Alpha slots are gone though. So she'll most likely be DLC.

Those slots aren't for alpha, they are for characters that haven't been in SF for a long time. The 4 that cover that just happen to be from alpha.

All I could get from the trailer is she's a female Blanka (another Tengu treatment) and finish combos with either an arm bar or leglock. Boring.

And the remaining slot for a character that isn't brand new is for SF2.
