Battle Royal JC Akira Wins NEC 16

Japanese player, JC Akira defeated everyone in his path at NEC 16 -- Team NINJA's finish to their 2015 Battle Royal. The matches were impressive and insane throughout the entire tournament... we saw: Lopedo in a plethora of clutch sets, E-Mann take second, and quite the show from @hollow and Kwiggle. This tournament was filled with memorable moments.

If you missed the tournament check out the past broadcast from Team Sp00ky (2h30m in). You owe it to yourself to watch these matches if you are remotely interested in 3D fighting games as these are some of the best matches the community has ever seen if not the best matches in all of 3D fighting.

Thanks to Team NINJA for supporting the offline community, and also for this great spectacle that everyone was able to enjoy regardless if they could make it to an offline or not. Congrats to JC Akira for your win at NEC. Your performance was refreshing and simply unparalleled. You have earned your spot to the grand final next year as the prized fighter!

Bracket

Grats to everyone, I have a lot to catch up on. Proud to see the best DOA Akira player I've ever seen and as one of the pioneers it's amazing to see someone with such mastery of the character, finally someone who I could see as a master, if only they were more easily accessible.

Shout outs to EVERYONE that was there @DestructionBomb @Sly Bass @XCaLibur BLadeZ @iHajinShinobi @MASTER @Rojikku @CrayCraySteady @SweetRevenge117 and @Mr.Kwiggle @Jaeger

And a particular congrats to @E-Mann for taking the silver. Met some of these guys before they started taking the tourney scene by storm and maybe some of you have forgotten me but I haven't forgotten you guys! Moving forward in other ways but believe me I wish I could've been to those tourneys showing off my own Akira and Hayate and maybe even surprising some people with Ein.

Hope you guys made some good memories. Guess I'll be the last one to meet everyone. gg

"...if not the best matches in all of 3D fighting"
Guess you didn't watch King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015?
Not saying DOA didn't have amazing matches though.

I was able to follow only the last part of the Top 8 (I will fix this very soon! ;) ) but from what I saw so far this was definitely a great DoA tournament, my congratulations to all the players involved in the competition and showing the best that the figthing side of the series has to offer competitively!

And of course again congratulations to JC Akira for his outstanding and well deserved victory, in the right hands Akira it's always a great show for the eyes! (a shame that it's also equally hard to learn XD)

Silly reply...
King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 had more viewers than Battle Royal.

Silly reply... Battle Royal wasn't a tournament; it was a year-long event. I have been watching Tekken and in no situation that I watched were the views even close to Dead or Alive's... the next tournament should be a prime example. Also their numbers have been very low.

You know why? Because Tekken doesn't have the fluidity and it's not nearly as watchable as Dead or Alive.

Lopedo's play was hype at this tournament. I think everyone was hoping to see JC vs. Lopedo -- that would have been awesome. But maybe at the next grand final.

With Battle Royal I was obviously talking about the last tournament which was held at NEC... King of Iron Fist With Tournament 2015 also involved several tournaments leading up to it.
And I was not talking about Tekken at NEC either... I was talking about King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 which was held in Japan last weekend and it definitely had more viewers.
It's just such a stupid comment to say that DOA had the best matches of all 3D fighters.
Hard to believe that you ever watch any other 3D fighters.
If something is more watchable definitely depends on everybodys own preferences. It's not a fact. Neither is saying that DOA had the best matches ever.
SC5's first year at EVO also had better matches than DOA in my opinion.
If you think DOA was the best ever fine but personaly I wouldn't write it in a front page article...
Just looks silly.
And I would like to think that most people who play more than just one fighter can agree with that.

Dude honestly just gotta ask...why are you trying to talk Tekken here and ruin the good mood?
Who honestly cares if Tekken has more views during one of their own tournies? This really isn't the place to be discussing that at all honestly and on top of that, it can be taken as literal spite too.

This ultimately is not about a game not even released yet on consoles, this is about DOA and whether DoAN embellished on it is inconsequential, especially since you are the ONLY ONE arguing about it.

And besides:
1. This is a site mainly pertaining to DOA, so bias is obvious as hell towards DOA

2. In terms of gameplay and looks, Tekken 7 does look far blander and more off than DOA5LR, a game based on last gen and has far smoother animations compared to Tekken. That isn't preference, that's fact.

You can keep your words to yourself but seriously, cut it out.

This is almost how I envisioned the tournament would turn out, though I wasn't expecting JCA defeating everyone in his way.
I enjoyed watching the 3v3 team tournament as everyone competing seemed to be having fun as well.
Then the pool matches on Saturday were also very high quality thanks to the huge number of top players.
Top 16 was exceptional for me to watch. There were so many clutch moments but the most memorable one was that Sweet Revenge almost holding 輝Rock's attack in a crucial game!
Then Top 8 was without a doubt the highest level of play of the entire year. So many talents and skills. I am sure these top players have inspired a lot of people by putting on such a great show!
Congrats to everyone who made it there this year. This community is great and still growing every second, thanks to everyone.

What's silly about promoting how awesome we think our game is? I have nothing but respect for other 3D fighters, they are just dated in my opinion and aren't nearly as watchable as Dead or Alive... which has the best animations in all of 3D fighting BY FAR. This makes it highly entertaining for me as a viewer... DOA has come a long way and in my opinion they were.

Get over it, honestly.
