Nioh General Discussion

So things that I found out (without story spoilers of course).

- You can go above level 100. I'm at 104.

- The Dojo at some point releases these new missions, which I'm sure a few already knew that, but there are these master training ones that provides you with the Mystic Arts on your skill tree which requires your proficiency levels to be extremely high with weapons to even unlock them. Like for example, if you want to take the master training levels and unlock Mystic Arts for the sword you'll have to raise the proficiency level of using a sword (killing in general with sword tree) before you can do the master level training and this applies to all the other weapons too (to get the Axe Mystic Arts you'll have to raise your Axe usage and killing a LOT). Beating the master training level will also add a transformation for you to use at the Teahouse.

- Kodama Bowl (Head piece armor) will provide 20% more power to your blessing in shrine. So I suppose mixing it up with those Weapon/Armor 5% shrine bonus will now become 25% now if you are looking to farm for gear and such. Topple with your Luck stats might net you more rarity etc.

Just fought what might be my favorite boss so far. Excellent end to an excellent level. Spoiler for Tokai Region (region 4) below:
Okatsu was an amazing fight. I'm not sure why she wasn't wearing shoes, but that was epic. It was like a mixture of Murai and Genshin's first fights. This game is just so good!

Not a fan of this shipwreck stage. I keep falling in the water!
Really glad your character wears whatever outfit u have on in the cutscenes. Ninja William is wrecking shop! I love how they let you be as overpowered or unpowered as u want. I want a nioh in real life. This game is so fun!

I've done the island mission twice and the bandit leader one. How can you guys play so fast?
Just sacrifice your social life and limitless possibilities open up!

I loved that stage. Except the boss, who is either way too easy or way too hard depending on what you bring into the fight.

Gonna have to get this game next month, Nier: Automata caught my eye first and I don't think I'll get paid next month on time to get that quickly enough.

And getting a New 3DS XL comes first. Looking at gameplay videos, it looks solid and challenging as hell.

This game has an easy mode. Here's a step-by-step guide how to unlock it.

Step 1: Equip Dual Katanas (bonus points for Wind or Earth damage weapons!)
Step 2: Upgrade God of Wind III
Step 3: Spam God of Wind III on every enemy in the game
Step 4 (Optional): Equip the Sloth Talisman and laugh your ass off

I'm probably the only one who thinks that Sloth Talisman might get a nerf lol. I mean if it did, it would be an honest one. There's literally no disadvantage for using Sloth when it wrecks just about almost everything, allowing one to mindlessly attack and providing oneself to make a quick 360 before going back to their controller to dodge another attack.

Course, if people want to use it then by all means. Speaking of which, recently I've stopped by a random stream of a guy who couldn't make up his mind on whether NiOh is easy or hard. It literally went like this (still on Sloth topic):

Streamer: Fuck, I can't dodge this dude. I'm getting hit every single fucking time and when I do dodge my stamina drops.

*Constantly sighs after getting hit and guard broken*

*Dies*

Streamer: -Yells- dude I don't want to do this bullshit again, this game is for people who think they can grow bigger balls for making shit this dumb. Hard game for no reason, Darksouls is not this dumb and hard. -Looks at stream chat-. That's exactly what I'm fuckin doin, stop tellin me on how to play.

*Someone mentions Sloth Talisman*

Streamer: The fuck is that? -reads- that sounds dumb and pointless but alright I'll do it.

*He starts to feel good when using Talisman, he develops this inner hype and then Kills boss using Sloth*

Streamer: Wow, that was dumb easy, -reads stream chat- Umm yeah I think Darksouls is a lot harder.

Me: Lol?

Sadly I won't be able to afford NiOh for some time. Tales of Berseria is holding me over pretty well for now but now that I've actually figured out how combat in that works everything but bosses are a joke, even on Intense difficulty.

You'll get it when you can.

I'm cleaning up the second region at the moment (kodama excepted...somehow manage to miss one in each region and too lazy to run back through) and then moving on to the third. I really, really love this game. Running two single swords (higher end Raikiri and the water sword you get from Muneshige Tachibana. I'm around level 50 or so, I think.

I'm at the second boss, and lvl 34 ish. Been playing some with a friend also, just racing through the first level a few times. Really cool game, I like it a lot. Still having trouble with the bosses though. No patience. I might just use that sloth amulet when I find it.

I think I've only used the Sloth Talisman to cheese my way through one boss so far. And it wasn't even that the boss himself was so difficult that I needed it, but I simply hated the run to reach the boss and didn't feel like doing it multiple times in order to learn his pattern. I mostly just use it on Wheelmonks, because fuck those guys.

There are actually several things I wouldn't be surprised to see nerfed down the line.
Sloth Talisman: Obvious reasons
God of Wind III: Fast, high health damage, insanely high ki damage, low ki cost, excellent range, doesn't leave you exposed, great hitboxes for hitting all enemy types/postures. Also chains into itself, busts guards and can be extended (for whatever reason) from all of your normals. It has every upside you could want from a melee attack string without a single downside.
Sword Ki: Lets you bully any human boss into submission, provided you have enough max ki. Which if you're a sword user and upgrade Heart, you do. Also lets you lazily push off entire mobs with AoE gusto.
Whirlwind II: Functions as a mixture of Sword Ki and God of Wind III. It does leave you exposed, however, unlike God of Wind II, and doesn't pummel down ki nearly as fast.

recently I've stopped by a random stream of a guy who couldn't make up his mind on whether NiOh is easy or hard.
*scoffs* Livestreamers.

so i just killed the Giant Centipede. i have no idea what yall were talking about besides the fact they were both giant bugs that was NOTHING like the NG2 fight.

all in all that was actually the first time i remember enjoying a poison level. a big part of that was the challenge was to figure out how to maneuver safely through the level rather than just tanking through it. onto whatever this flooded area is...

So they're really not going to make any female characters as disguises? Yes, I get "oooh, different skeletons!" but so what? Some of these guys have really awkward body types for William's animations anyway.

Couple of questions:
1) Is there any difference between "upturned" swords and "downturned" swords? (in the inventory it shows the sword and icon facing either up or down)
2) I get that you earn a samurai skill point each time you complete a proficiency bar for a weapon, but does anyone ahve an idea how many you can get per weapon? Proficiency points cap at 999999 per weapon.
