DOA5 In retrospect (related to DOA6 and sexuality, etc)

Has anyone else observed a change between the early DOA5 promotion /vanilla DOA5 AND DOA5LR?
Here are some of my observations and thoughts that I thought would be interesting to discuss:

  1. The early "I'm a Fighter" promotions featured Hitomi. Hitomi also was in the alpha-demo. She was given serious promo despite not having a major place in the story. Was this Team Ninja's attempt to become more "serious" with their fighters and promotion?
  2. Borrowing some VF characters also made the game seem more "serious" in my eyes tbh.
  3. Same goes with the introduction of Mila - a fierce, serious competitor. Compare it to Marie Rose and Honoka, who were the new characters in DOA5U/LR and are arguably "Otaku" based.
  4. Ultimate marked the release of the DLC spam. DOA5 had swimsuits, but they were related to DOAX and thus to be expected. Was it here that Team Ninja realised there was serious $$$ to be made and decided to change their tone? I think my copy of Ultimate came with a cloth or mousepad too?
  5. I feel like the base game also tried to appeal to Western audiences, or at least borrow some urban aspects to make it look "cool" e.g. The "Gotta Move On" track and dare I say Mila.

Looking back, do you see some sort of change? I do. (Not that I'm complaining) Especially when playing the alpha demo again. The atmosphere of the game seems much more different.
Let's discuss.

I think you're bang on here.

I predict DOA 6 will take a very similar path which... Kind of makes me happy. You don't have to buy into the DLC spam. You can cherry pick for your mains and which ones you think you'll actually wear into fights and they aren't so expensive that it's deal breaking.

Onto the subject of parallels. They're coming out hard with the "Cool not sexy" campaign again this time like they did with the "I'm a Fighter" approach to 5. The C1 outfits for Kasumi and Helena on these promos are modest (Less so for Helena, and Kasumi is practically chaste looking) They have said in an interview that everyone will be getting their classic costumes, which for much of the cast, immediately means there will be lewd outfits around.

"For this version, we still have Kasumi with her previous costumes, and there are some parts that are going to jiggle or move, but we want to make it a lot more natural." - Yohei Shimbori on Game Informer

In 5 the C1 costumes for everyone were tame as well (Not counting DLC characters) and in their default costume sets were some lewds.

Vanilla 5 came stock with "Natural" and DOA Soft Engine, but eventually with I think it was either Plus or LR they patched in OMG mode.
6's default appears to be an even more tame "Natural" which means the probability of there being a DOA setting is high, and I guarantee you we'll see OMG mode return down the road just like 5.

"Of course we’re going to tone down at this point, but for downloadable content, we have to see what gamers really want, what their response is. Not all the gamers want the same thing, but we want to ask their opinions, all of them, and get feedback on it." - Yohei Shimbori on Game Informer

SOME parts??? I hope that means we'll be seeing some thigh and butt jiggle, that's almost as good as boob jiggle imo:oops:

Run the logic.

Devs spend millions in time and revenue developing Soft Engine to have the best breast and bottom physics in gaming.

Devs then decide in the next installment of their main series game to "Tone it down" across the board and take it away from the market they developed it for without an option of turning it up to where it's normally supposed to be for the game series.

??? XD

Doesn't add up.

Ikr? XD I definitely still think that even tho they're toning down everything, they still have a Japanese fan base/sexy based player base to appeal to so they'll keep the jiggle, but toning it down which I think is reasonable, MK9 had a very modest subtle jiggle so why not DOA6? Plus realistically boobs and ass will jiggle, games like Injustice 2 that just don't have it always seemed a bit off imo. As long as they just make everyone equal and focus on everyone rather than just girls this time, I don't feel like anyone will really complain tbh

It's almost like KT is stupid and utterly incompetent when it comes to how to run a business. Just a thought.
