DOA6 FSD, Sonic Fox and Kwiggle Streaming the Final Build of DOA6

FSD 2.png

You might not get Dead or Alive 6 as early as Free Step Dodge, Sonic Fox (and now his brother Kwiggle), but you will be able try all of the characters for yourself in the weekend demo (PS+ or XBOX LIVE required) that starts this Friday. While that's happening you can also spectate DOA6s first major appearance at Winter Brawl 3D if you didn't register for the tournament on time. Thanks to Sonic Fox's streamed matches with Xcalibur BladeZ, the community is already beginning to find some new complex mechanics in DOA6s final build.

All three streams had something valuable to share with the community for DOA6. Matt Ponton covered frame data and move lists, sharing information for characters like Bass and Tina who have been under utilized in the promotional material for DOA6. Kwiggle shared plenty of single player content that will be keep casuals and hardcore alike busy for weeks upon purchasing the game.

Sonic Fox plus Xcalibur BladeZ streamed plenty of hardcore matches and were very informative for any competitors going into the Winter Brawl: 3D edition tournament. They will not compete in the event because of getting DOA6 early, so their sacrifice is for your educational and entertainment purposes. Destruction Bomb offers thought provoking posts in the forum and is already juggling some of NiCO's possibilities because of the stream:

NiCO can teleport after the bolt GB even in open space. For a minute I thought the bolt had to connect to an opponent that gets hit/blocked/or if they try to hold the non-holdable strike, turns out she can do it out in the open. There may be consequences doing it right out in the open but may be useful to get yourself out of the pinch jam near walls. For starters, you can't hold that bolt. If you block it, it's a GB. If you held it, it forces you into a step.

In short, the recovery might be huge so you'd have to make Nico whiff to get a free hit (or even a throw).

Some people will discuss hair or put silly things under the microscope that are irrelevant to the point of fighting games, but this is the type of content that should be coming out of pre-release streams. The deluxe demo will provide everyone a chance to establish tech and ask questions in the forum before March 1st, so take advantage of that free game time and enjoy your weekend!

If he've already got the full game that means the game is completed , no more fixes, changes right ? . So what is the point of getting this week demo anyway ?

There will still be a patch after launch, the weekend beta won't be useless in that regard.

As for the stream, it was a load of fun! Can never really get tired of XcaliburBladez & SonicFox beating the shit out of each other. That Kokoro & Eliot play <3.

Because you can't just release a game one console once it's "completed". You need to send in a release candidate for testing and certification - something that can take up to a month or more. And even then, you're still working on the game during the time it's in cert, because there's no such thing as truly bug free software, so you're still addressing stuff up until launch (hence, day 1 patches).

This is kind of unfair. Sonic will able to lab way harder than most of us and be more polish. I know he was one of the best in 5, but to get the game this early is kind of fucked up. Where is Rikuto's early copy? He's an EVO Champion. This feels like someone abusing their status as a pro player and big personality in the FGC. Props to Fox, but part of me finds this to be scummy as we only get three days with the near full build but he has a couple of weeks on top of us.

Sonic Fox getting the game earlier literally helps grow the playerbase. He has a huge following atm and if they hear he's really digging DOA6 and hes training up on it it will pull a sizable population of his fans in too. TN getting a copy to him was a very wise move on their part. I hear they're getting one to Max too, and while he isnt a pro player he does have a pretty big following as a YouTube entertainer and streamer so that will draw more people in. TN isnt handing copies out to be tournament fair they're handing copies out to sell more off the shelves and grow the fanbase.

There is no proof or edvience either of these guys bring in new players to the game. Espeically Sonicfox. That isn't a knock on him but his fans are more interested in seeing him destroy people than actually playing the game themselves. I know this for a fact because when eh was palying SC6 his fans were mroe interested in calling the SC6 community free than actually picking up SC6. Though, you can't deny him getting the game this early gives him a massive advantage of other players. For Max...they kind of are just casuals who will watch Max do anything. I get this move more as Max isn't a serious guy who enters. This is okay, but giving the game to one of the best DOA 5 players. Espeically to a guy who was the best with a number of characters in DOA 5 like Kokoro, Phase 4, and Marie Rose is extremely unfair.

This won't stop me from trying to beat him but not gonna shake this feeling. Also, I don't think neither of these will "Grow" the fanbase as they will be like, "OH cool" and then move on. Those fanbases have yet to prove to move the meter for any game.

Ehh at least more people will see DOA because of his streams
This is true, but he is kind of a bad streamer. He doesn't interact with chat at all. This man one tiem stream SC6 and didn't say a word. So, he isn't a big stream personality that keeps you engage unless you jsut want raw gameplay. I got a little of that from him and Xcail but as someone who has watched a couple of his streams. He sucks personality wise compared to Hookganggod and Chris G.

It puts the game on more people's radar. Whether or not anyone picks it up for longer than a week isn't the point. It's exposure to more people that may not have ever considered trying DOA. I understand your feelings on this being unfair but I kind of feel like you're being obtuse. There is no way you can skew either of these people getting a copy as anything but positive for the game without doing a lot of mental gymnastics. The purpose for early copies is promotional, not to give Sonic Fox an edge at tournaments.

That's not necessarily true, when Sonic touches a game it gets a lot of people to play it, especially when he showcases those really long combos like he does DBFZ, that gets people's attention and regardless on if they like the community or not, it still makes them want to try it out

And him having the game early tbh isn't an unfair advantage, the game not only releases in 10 days but we get a free demo in 4 days where we can tech hunt ourselves, plus Sonic Fox plays multiple games so he's likely not gonna focus on DOA just yet. As long as you have been following with your main's improvements and buff from the recent builds and such, it's not like you're gonna be far behind when the game does release
