Zafina is back, can't believe it. Might buy the game !

And Wing Chun... I'm jealous Tekken did it before DOA. Smart move.

It was a tough position to add Wing Chun in general, there is history on why it had issues to be video games. It was one of the martial arts that was against any sorts of media footages and video games. Wing Chun in the past was basically something that you learn to protect yourself without your enemy knowing you have self defense or media knowing what you know. Otherwise DOA probably would of had one since DOA2 lol.

It was a risk trying to add something like that without getting flack. IP man was different as it was properly replicating it without squandering it. I'd say it's more of a smart risk than a smart move. In my opinion, it was about time. The past is the past, and people will try to help each other.

I don't think DOA would had got the fighting style first. It would probably be Virtua Fighter that will get dibs first.

Also, I believe Wing Chun was used but in a mixed style sort of speak. If anyone play Sleeping Dogs, the main character, Wei, does incorporate Wing Chun in his fighting style. The game also include the training board for Wing Chun practitioners in his home(s).

It's the general aspects of things I meant ahaha. Basically this post: https://www.freestepdodge.com/threads/tekken.500/page-238#post-403578

There's a barrier that most companies (especially fighting game companies) tend to avoid instead of taking the risk, particularly anything that involves sensitive matters in real life sorta, believe it or not but Wing Chun was one of them, movies such as IP man was to bring a positive light to it and to diminish the sensitive barrier around it (which was a success and people went to school to learn it in a positive fashion). In short, Harada took that risk because Wing Chun these past few years has been even open to more people lately, compared to the years before 2000. Course i'm no martial arts expert, but it's something I read years ago regarding fighting styles and their controversy with media along with Japan relations. Which is pretty ironic considering it was media that allowed people to even know what Wing Chun is in the first place to even spread.

Course, you are right though. I've seen video games with Wing Chun that aren't fighting games so that was pretty cool.

I guess it won't happen but if one of these characters is Jun I will throw all my money to Harada

I hope Jun comes back (she definitely deserves it) but I'm not so sure we will get her unless its the next Tag game. Though, I heard a rumor that one of the members of the Tekken team DOES NOT like her. He complained to Harada about her way back during Tag 1's development, screaming that "I can't stand Jun, she's too OP in Tekken 2!!! Get rid of her!" Harada even mentioned the story on his Twitter account.

I guess to say, if its true, that's why Jun was taking out of the main games (though she was going to appear in 3 but was scrapped), because of that team member.

Isn't it his or Tekken team's job to fix that problem regarding Jun? it just seems like a question if it's a legitimate Tekken team member or not lol.

If fighting games decide character entry based on a Tekken team member personal grudge for the character, then that is disappointing along with trust with the consumers. DOA has it's share of favortism obviously, but I was kinda not surprised for Tekken if that's the case.

lol that dude, I didn't know that story but I don't think one single member has so much power in the franchise to just ban a character for most games.

Oh man, imagine FGs based like that. That would be absolutely atrocious and you would be forced to eat it up, while the only hope to achieve what you like is getting a team member who likes what you like in similar category.

Also, Jun being OP back in Tekken 2? what?

I only remember a few tier list for Tekken 2 and what I remember from these is her being at mid tier or so, being the top characters both Kazuya and Heihachi (you know, mixups and electric), Paul, Nina and King.

But anyways, people that like characters > someone inside the team lthat hate these characters. If people want characters and they are loud about it Bamco will want that money. It's Bamco.

People first asked for Jin in Tekken 7 due not being at the arcade release and he was added later on, people asked for Lei, Anna, Julia and Marduk and they were there in season 2, people asked about Zafina and she is here in season 3. I also remember people asking for Jun so let's see what happens with the remaining characters.

She isn't OP at the slightest. He probably was having a hard time dealing with her infinite combos back in the day, which were very easy to pull off.

But Namco wasn't the only company, Capcom has a similar story with Ono. Remember he was desperately trying to get R. Mika into Street Fighter 4? One person of that team said "Nope". Then 5 came, I guess that guy gave up and reluctantly approved Ono bringing back R. Mika.

I’m one of the few people who asked for Jun Kazama. She is my true main. Even since they took her out, I’ve never looked at Tekken same. For years I suffered and waited for her return. So, I stuck around by playing with Anna Williams, Ling Xiaoyu, Hwoarang and Asuka Kazama. In the end, still not satisfied. We Jun fans waited far enough. BandaiNamco owe us this. :(

Its funny because Jun was my secondary in 2 and Tag 1. Tag 2 was her revamped with brand new moves as a different character since Asuka was her replacement and to move her away as a clone. She should had returned in 7 as Harada promised but then we were stuck with all of these new characters that are lacking, uninspiring, and un-imagined. (Leroy is a different case). I hope she comes back in this season but then, those poor Kunimitsu fans... (and she was revamped too).

Meanwhile, for me who plays Michelle back in the day... Everyone worried about them but NOT about the original bi-racial Native American character of the series.

I started with Tekken 2 and back then I played (casually) with both Jun and Kazuya. I tend to play more with Jun but after that I played with Kazuya in next games due her being missing in most games.

Unlike with most people, for me Tekken 3 was a pain in the ass. I didn't only lost Jun playstyle but I didn't like Jin in comparison with Kazuya so I almost didn't play Tekken 3 at all.

With Tekken 4 I was really happy with Zakuya return but that game being so slow ... well, it's unique in the franchise (with even some verticality in stages) but I didn't go really back to Tekken until Tekken 5, being that game still the best in the franchise imo.

I played 6 and TTT2 but to be honest I don't have 7 because I just don't like rage system at all and I was burned of TTT2 but with a cool Jun comeback I could think about playing the game.
