i guess people just button spamming the kick button is very frustrating and i dont know how to get out of it.

Well I main Helena, but Rig is definitely my 2nd. The best way to deal with his kicks is to either strike before they come out (with the exception of the axe kick), block, or a lot of times counter high. Most of his punches and a lot of his kicks are high. Also, he's not a very fast character in most situations, so you just have to beat him to the punch...when you can.

Against a good Rig user though I wouldn't recommend countering. Block and wait for an opening. Sometimes, I end up in flamingo stance right next to a downed foe and usually get punished by a wake up kick. So that's also something to look out for lol.

Why isn't anyone using Rig ? Is something wrong with his potential ?
Maybe they should Sarah-ize him in DOA6.

It's honestly what he needs. He brings nothing other fighters don't have, and his only true strengths are in his combo damage and Bending mixups. Everything else is subpar, and his speed in Bending isn't spectacular.

It's hard to say...I enjoy using Rig so I wouldn't want him to be more like Sarah, but I feel like he's disadvantaged in a lot more situations than other characters. I would like to more people to use him, but at the same time I wouldn't want him to become like Helena where EVERYONE picks him up to use the same played out tactics (the main reason why Helena became my 2nd and Rig moved to 1st for me). One of the benefits I guess to there being few Rig players is that no 2 players seem to use him the same, especially when it comes to the use of Turn-Leg Stance. A throw from that stance would be kinda cool....especially if it gave a noticeable advantage. Still, I'll definitely be maining him again once 5U comes out.

And make him turn to crystal only to grow a bigger set of boobs? Where's the fun in that?

Oh, and I'm not using Rig because... well... I'm very slow at picking up another character. He has potential as he is now, he just takes a lot of work. He'll likely be sped up at best in the sequel for the sake of being more user-friendly.

I am interested in looking into Rig. I just found out his throw damage is nonexistent, but he seems like he can breathe down your neck a lot (pressure). He's not very safe, but he seems like he can be very annoying with his mixups. I'm trying to figure out how to play a beginner Rig; all I got is that he certainly has times where he says "screw counters, instead of throwing I'll just keep attacking". I'm not sure of his basics yet.

I agree I do like Rig as a character ( he has this dark bad-ass feel to him and his character is written well in my opinion). I don't know how to explain this but out of all the characters in DOA (touched the first DOA, got into it by DOA3) I have an affinity to Rig. As much as they downplay him, in terms of how much people say he spams (I take "spamming" as an insult because I take the time to learn his move-set) use him right (in other words think like a TKD player) he is a good character. However I wish they could increase his repertoire of moves.
