No, thats your understanding of my logic, not my logic. I'm perfectly content with the game as is and with the characters it includes. TN abandoned Leon as a character for a reason. All the ninja characters are popular trademarks to the game and they each utilize an imaginary style. Leon quite frankly would be 1stly difficult and time consuming for TN to revive and 2ndly would use an actual REAL martial art style that already exists in the game. It would be like putting Shun Di and Brad Wong in the same game -- silly. If characters have completely different moves then they can coexist in the game with ease. It would be EXTREMELY difficult to include Leon in the game again when Bayman is essentially a more realistic character who uses the same style. You are a FAN of Leon. For everyone else who is completely indifferent to Leon as a character, it would almost seem as if DOA was gonna do the same thing as tekken and include 15 chars who all do one style (cough. mishima style karate cough.) Sambo is a REAL MARTIAL ART and Leons move set is not an accurate display of Sambo compared to Baymans. Reviving a character entirely for the sake of a specific minority of the fan base is not in the best interests of koei, TN or the rest of the games fans, nor is the revival of a character with a pre-existing style the same as continuing to use characters with the same style who are already the most popular characters in that game. TN has done exactly what they should be doing with doa5 (aside from the evil netcode) by adding Rig and Mila; creating new characters with new personal stories, personalities and styles. Basically, my point is whether you personally like Leon Ein or Tengu is irrelevant. The question is whether or not bringing them back in doa5 would be beneficial to the evolution of the game and to the company who made the game. In regards to Ein and Leon at least I believe bringing them back to the game wouldn't provide a large enough benefit to the company to be worth bothering with. In terms of Bass, Tina, Eliot, Gen Fu and the ninja characters they are character who have existed from previous games and have immense popularity. There is no reason for team ninja to cut them, nor was there much difficulty in placing them in doa5.

Actually, the only reason they dropped Leon (And Ein) was due to time constraints, the devs like him and are looking forward to bringing him back.

Which throws a lot of this post out the window, sorry to say.

I do agree, though, that they should stop calling Leon's style "sambo", when its not, anymore.

XNAlara. :)

Next one will be Kasumi and Ayane. What moves from Leon's movelist shoud I use ?
Half Boston Crab - Fourth segment of the throw (Where he throws the person across the room. Not actually sure if that is the proper name for it anymore, that was Bayman's version in DOA2H minus the fourth part, the toss itself didn't exist then. 46T, 4T, 2T, 41236T is the updated version in 4 and Dimensions that I know of, haven't played DOA3).

Haven't read the entire thread but just some of my own thoughts about bringing back both characters.

Leon has been my primary main for over ten years now with Ein having been my follow up after him. I was extremely disappointed that neither of them made the cut and actually contemplated not buying the game until TN revealed Mila, my interest in Bayman dwindled as the differences in the two became farther and farther apart, not to mention a few throws got swapped between the two (33T for Bayman was originally on Leon but got swapped over to make his Tank Roll worthwhile while Leon got the Takedownandsmashyourfacein). Big arguments that I've seen in the recent posts are that Leon doesn't follow traditional Sambo, just remember there are three primary forms of it: Combat (which allows strikes and more brutal combat), Sport (pretty much holds only), and Freestyle (a choke hold allowed Sport variant). Yeah Leon would have to be made from scratch and has no place in the story anymore, desert be damned, I would be more than willing to pay money to play as him in my favorite fighting series. I want him back and would be willing to drop playing Mila in a heartbeat just to play as him again in DOA5.
Yeah, not a whole lot put out for Leon there, as much as I love him there just are not enough people who actually play him to warrant bringing him back, TN could consider it a loss in profit by bringing him back because very few people would buy him and use him after the first week he would be out.

Ein. Ein had a chance to be brought back to the game. Yes I'm referring to the event in the story where MIST failed to reactivate the Epsilon Program. In my opinion that was all the reason they needed to bring back Ein, have Epsilon be successful for even just one fight before Kasumi and Hayabusa smack some sense into him.
Otherwise this is similar to the Leon/Bayman debate that the nonhardcore players couldn't understand. Sure Hitomi and Ein are fundamentally the same but they share huge differences if you have spent a considerable amount of time playing as one and trying out the other, in my case Ein for 8 years before playing DOA4 and learning to play Hitomi). Ein has a significantly larger chance of having success if he were released over Leon as he was by far the more popular of the two characters. Again another case, for me, where I would stop playing Mila as my main if Ein was released because I love him as a character.

I'm not sure on Ein's popularity but I can guess that he wasn't included for reasons similar to not having Leon or Tengu, they are just nonstaple characters that have no place in the series anymore because of how unpopular/underused they are. Will post my DOAD fastest time match with Leon and Ein soon as I charge my camera to show my support for getting the two for DLC (I know I said a bunch of negatives but I really do want both, if not at least one of them, back in the game).

Just give him basic penjach silat moves, and here we go. Leon is unique.

some of that seems a little too articulate for Leon, to be honest. Though basic MGS CQC style would probably suit him.

I still say they should essentially make him a striker version of Bass. While Bass is the absolute strongest in terms of single grapples, Leon should be the absolute strongest in terms of single strikes. Like his Arm Grenade, etc. Just huge blows for massive damage.

Just make him all about raw power and strength, with him focusing on offensive strikes (unblockable/armor), with the catch that its a single, huge, blow.

Not sure what that style would be called, but I like the thought of it.

Oh hell, just call his style "Rambo" so he can just straight up destroy everyone.

Also, he should get the argentine back breaker. Otherwise known as, The Tower Bridge.

(First move in the video)

Also, I think he should have more "brutal" moves, like the ones at :30, and :58. Yaknow, just strongarming the opponent.

I really think he and Mila should be like Bass and Tina. Similar "brutal and practical" styles, but Leon being slower and stronger, while Mila being faster and weaker.

Believe it or not that was done on normal health bars against a friend of mine, he told me he would never play the game again.

Well I did it with Christie. I personally call it the "baseball move".

You should make someone do Leon's 33P. It was weird to look at when Leon did it, I imagine it's much weirder for Kasumi or Ayane

I'm going to start a new "campaign" to show which moves I miss the most.

It looks like Kasumi is flexing her muscles! That's amazing. I might have that as my wallpaper now. What about making Tina do his 9P?

Well if I'm not wrong, Mila's 9P and Leon's 9P are exactly the same, so that's not really a move I can give a tribute to.
Damn, these moves are so epic...
That's what I'm talking about when I say that "DOA5 lacks a real brawler".

people can talk about popularity and character usage all they want but this thread proves leon fans have the loudest voices and dedication to his return, hell this is the most active topic in the entire forums with over 550 replies and is home to the most hilarious photoshops on this site. there is no way TN ain't seeing this shit and laughing their asses off and peaking their interest just a little bit into bringing him back. you ein/tengu fans need to step it up because if this site is TN's indicator of whos the most requested and "deserves" to come back then the choice would be obvious.

either way u fellow leon fans keep up the good work, im pretty much done with this game and have no desire to bother with it anymore and hopefully TN isn't as clueless and incompetent as they make themselves out to be and he along with ein/tengu return as dlc eventually,

Kwon - I thought Leon's 9P had him headbutting, but they are remarkably similar. What about his 4T? The neck hang tree I think it's called!

DontForkWithMe - I agree! I saw a Tengu thread appear recently, but it's only on page 2! I thought that this thread had become a character DLC thread to an extent, while still focussing on Leon. Also, I've found my drive for playing this game dwindle somewhat too. I find it fun, but I don't spend as long as I did on previous DOAs in one session. It's a shame, as I've been looking forward to this game for so long. The upcoming patch has a lot riding on it for me, as it's pretty much deciding how much I'll play it now. Don't get me wrong, I love DOA5, and DOA in general, but without my favourite characters in it's hard to find that oomph to play it a lot. Tina's great and all, but she's no Leon.

I see your point, Takeda.

If duplication of a style is the problem caused by Leon, then do as Kwon suggested earlier and just change his style. Every character has their staple moves, so as long as Leon has his, then I'm ok with a little change. But Bayman and Leon do play quite differently.

On the subject of originality, there is no question that Tengu is the most original style of the three, and I would whole-heartidly welcome Tengu back into DOA5. Any of the three actually, as they were all my mains. Leon is my favourite, followed closely by Tengu, and then Ein. I always found that it was way too easy to be good with Ein though. Popularity is only one factor though, Ein may have been the most popular, but if they bring one back, they should bring all three back.
See, when you first mentioned it, I wasn't really up for the idea. Actually seeing some of that, I can totally imagine Leon doing some of that, and it would work. Add the punt kick, mount tackle, and Arm Grenade, and that would be perfect. And the Javelin throw.
More importantly, GIVE HITOMI MORE JUDO. I'VE USED HER UCHIMATA ON ENOUGH PLAYERS ALREADY, I WANT A COUNTER MID PUNCH TOMOENAGE!!

Dude, a firemans carry back breaker? Leons supposed to be a military type. Do you see a problem with something that ridiculous? A firemans carry slam kinda like WWE's 'Samoan drop' might make a bit more sense I guess, but picking a person up in a firemans carry and snapping their spine like that video is just ridiculous and wouldn't work on someone half your size in real life. I know doa has some surrelaism in it but the whole point of Leon as a character is that hes a brutal paramilitary fighter confined to relatively realistic moves.
