PS4 revealed

Keep your PS3 and you keep everything on PSN you bought.

I don't understand why people are upset at the prospect of losing nothing. All you were going to get from gamestop if you traded it in was like 50 dollars in credit from a system you invested hundreds into.
Very true. It would have been a welcomed convenience had it been compatible, though. I guess when I'm considering a $400-500 product, it's reassuring to know that it comes with more than just gimmicks. But you're right, nothing to fuss over.

Never understood the appeal of backwards compatibility. I've literally used it once, for the month or so we had to wait for DoA4 at the 360 launch. I played a bunch of Halo 2. That's the only time I've used backwards compatibility.

I don't count playing NG/B on my 360 as backwards compatibility since that shit is TIMELESS. In most cases, newer is better.

The appeal of BC is plain and simply a matter of convenience ... it is much more convenient to be able to play all of ones games with just 1 or 2 consoles connected to a setup, as opposed to about 17 consoles. lol

And just for a bit of perspective, anyone playing any kind of old PC games (originally built for older OS/CPU/GPU configs) are making use of "backwards compatibility", in a sense. Because who wants to have ~852 different PC rigs hooked up to 1 monitor?

Similar to the end of this gen i will be strictly PC/PS4 for next-gen. Nintendo has been dead to me after wii and MS is a joke with their nickel and diming people into paying for services that are available for free everywhere else while offering no exclusives worth a shit. now that sony smartened up and are releasing a more powerful console that is actually easy to develop for; xbox will no longer be getting superior versions of 3rd party games which is all 360 had going for it over PS3.

I will wait until i hear more on the console before i decide whether i think it appeals to me or not. So far i reckon it's pretty impressive tech for a next generation console (this coming from someone who doesn't do PC gaming & never will, just not my thing) but it's the games that are the consoles anchor for me, if the games are good & there is enough there that interest me then i will buy it. The gimmicks (something i am not entirely fussed about) that come with it are simply extra pudding on an expensive cake.

So far however, from what i have seen thus far, i can't see myself buying this on launch night like i did with the PS3. This will be one i will wait out on until there are enough games to justify forking out the large sum of money it will no doubt be worth. The big plus for me thus far is the estimated price tag for AU which is said to cost around $899AU dollars according to an Australian EB retailer, which is a more attractive price tag then when the PS3 was launched in my country at $1000AU dollars

Slightly off-topic, what will become of the PSN store when the PS3 eventually stops production? This may seem like a silly question as this could be years & years away, i just worry whether all the DLC i have purchased over the years (of which there is plenty) will still be usable if the PSN store was ever to shut down? Or will the PS4 simply be adding PS4 content to the PSN store that we have already? I ask this because I am an extremely old school game player that still plays The Bouncer on PS2. I tend to keep my old consoles & old games so that when i am feeling abit nostalgic i can bounce back into them

Cheers lads,

You think all of the new infrastructure will allow Sony to keep online shit free? You live in a rather interesting world my friend. Online will definitely cost with PS4. It's just a matter of what they choose to lock behind a pay wall. I'd wager a good majority of it.

CyberConnect2 - The new JoJo fighter looks amazing and Asura's Wrath is my second all-time favorite Dragon's Lair-inspired game ever made.
Fixed.

That was no game. That was a missed opportunity for Toonami to get ratings.

I will never bother buying a console at launch unless the launch titles actually interest me. Plus when a console's released all sorts of bugs and hardware problems get detected, and then there's inevitably a slim version which comes out about 2-3 years after the initial release.

Like I said, unless there are launch titles that interest me, this will so far be a 'no'. Barely anything except controller, console specs and games planned to be made for the PS4 is announced. And I so can bet my money on them announcing it just to beat out the 360.

And the controller is a joke. Face it, it's ugly.

You know what? What if Xbox reverse roles with the paying online thing and go free this time, and Ps3 does the opposite?

Well it was a game to me, so I played it like a game and enjoyed every gosh darn minute of it.
And as far as Toonami ratings go, the combined force of Bleach, Naruto, and Thundercats have been raking in pretty large ratings (all three over a million until TC declined into 900,000s). And with the addition of Soul Eater, it's gonna skyrocket given time. In theory at least <.<

With all these extra services they're adding to enhance the online experience, online play might end up costing a pretty penny if Sony gets desperate enough for money. If that were to be the case, then I'll most certainly end up sticking to a Wii-U for next gen.

obviously sony aren't going to be offering all that premium content for free and will most likely be added to PS+ subscriptions which still allows non-members to have access to online play and free services like netlfix unlike MS blocking basic online gaming and netflx behind a paywall which is complete bullshit and i won't be bothering with xbox720 if they continue charging for it

Just imagine if TN was using Killzone 4 graphics engine for DOA5 & Ninja Gaiden

I was extremely impressed with the specs and the features. If all of that wasn't just marketing bullshit and it really does what they say it'll do, I'm switching from Xbox to PS4.

Microsoft is gonna have to do something amazing for me to care about the next Xbox. Any signs of a forced Kinect... or Kinect period and I'm gonna say fuck it. I know the controller on the PS4 has a touch pad but if it works half as well as the one on the Vita I'll be content.

Oh, and Microsoft have pretty much nothing that I'm interested in. Everything is going multi platform that I want and PS4 is getting it first. I never cared about Halo or Gears, RARE is too busy making Kinect garbage and... what else does MS have? Forza? Yah, not for me.

So in conclusion, fuck Xbox unless they can make a great machine focused on great games that they can show me.

Tecmo Koei has been removed from the lost of developers working on PS4. No TN either. Edited the thread title to reflect this.
