I've honestly never tried to play that way. I only cancel moves with shuriken or dodge and in 3 I'm almost postiive that you can't cancel a string with block and actually block an incoming attack in a situation where you can't do anything else. I could be mistaken but that's not my playstyle anyway.

As for what you were doing with the shuriken cancel, it's possible I just didn't get what you were talking about or was thinking about the wrong string. I've avoided dual swords since their inception in Sigma. Never liked them, despite how broken they are.

Yea I mean you don't go straight into block but it's like regular fighting game free cancel with the free button, so that if you don't want a certain string to finish all you have to do is press H(L1) and you'll be able to start inputting for your new string, granted the player buffers it correctly.

As for the dual swords, apparently they're not that great anymore since 360 T doesn't work as well anymore and S[Hold]T can't be cancelled anymore for whatever reason according to a friend of mine... main BnB's right there :/

I guess I've just never seen the point of standing in place and hitting block to cancel a string when I could just move the stick while hitting the same button and keep on the move. Again, playstyle thing. We all play differently.

Indeed. I just didn't know if it was actually useful or not because no one ever really talked about free cancelling with block in NG as far as I can remember, but you're right. It does make a lot more sense to roll/dash/slide out. lol.

It's not really an issue so much as something that only veterans will take issue with. If you think about it from a gameplay standpoint, if you're able to move and make contact with the enemy you should be hit-able and you should have some recovery just like other atacks. I see where they are coming from but as a series vet it annoys me too. The only REAL issue that I'd like to see fixed with the dodge is the MASSIVE DEADZONE on the left stick for it. Can't tell you how many times in 3 and RE I've tried to dodge something only to just kinda chill there and get a sword embedded in Ryu's face.

That has yet to happen to me :p

Hey since you played the Wii U version do you know if the delimb animation of the KG has "i" frames or can it get interrupted?

The de-limb animation? What do you mean? Just like the other weapons it has a bunch of different moves that can de-limb. Do you mean OT?

Ultimate Ninja 2. Kusari-Gama.

He means Kusari-Gama's grab. It's like an OT, but it de-limbs them, and if they're already de-limbed, he just straight up kills them. I don't know the fine details about it but I read about it in a tutorial to the weapon.

Oh. Honestly I don't know then. During my Wii U playthrough I only used the various swords and Lunar. I didn't have much time and I wanted to finish the game so I only focused on those two weapons.

If the Kusari's Gama's chain pull de-limb works like it did in NG2 on the Alchemists, I just got a new favorite weapon.

For the record, Kasumi's Ukifune won't work on the Alchemists unless they are bloodied. I've tried it after multiple string cancels and each time they dodge it. Oh well.

I've been sidetracked with finishing Tomb Raider and Naruto, and the surprise of DoA5+'s early release had me working on some extra stuff for the site as well as simply playing it. Should be getting back to the killin' business later tonight.

I know in NG2 the KG delimb move had i-frames through the animation just wondering if its still the same with NG3:RE (the animation appears much slower as well in NG3 compared to NG2)

Yea, if it did then, I'd imagine it would still have i-frames considering it is a grab.

Considering OTs don't have complete i-frames anymore, I'm skeptical.
Still, I'm anxious to test it out. IIRC, in NG2 grabs were done with the second or later strike in a chain (correct me if I'm wrong, as I didn't use the KG as much as other weapons in that one), whereas here it's the first. Me gusta.

In NG2 the KG delimb was strike, strike, then it would grab and delimb

Because of the way the combat system works now I'm going to guess it may not have any invincibility at all. No other move in the game that de-limbs has invincibility short of the various drops...and those don't really de-limb so much as decapitate. Even the moves that have you dashing through the enemy aren't invincible.
