Ok, it pisses me off, when i'm not using Ryu, but with Ryu, that boss is kind of a non-problem. I guess it is because i played it more than the others, i figured out ways to do it faster. While NGB bosses i haven't learned that much how to fight against them to that point, i just spent one week trying to beat alma 1 on master ninja.

The Leech has three attacks. It takes 10 seconds to learn them and less than a minute to kill it on the hardest difficulty. But apparently that's less of a "non-problem" than hopping around for several minutes straining your eyes to see battle-indicators in a bloom minefield while spamming arrows and trying not to become nauseous between spazzy camera bullshit and hitscan attacks.

Fuck me, and I was just talking about this earlier.

Ok. sorry @Brute I understood by "leech" the tentacle monster from chapter 5 and 7, not the eletric things from the sewers, i dont see those as problematic at all, or even bosses, so i forgot about them.

@DestructionBomb MN in vanilla and RE is so tedious. To make the game harder they just buff the enemies defense so they block, counter, and evade every attack you throw at them. Even if u land a hit they just block or dodge your follow ups

Because of this you're pretty much forced to bone in steel through every encounter. In vanilla u can just pick the scythe and just chain bone on steel till every1 is dead, no such luck in RE though. In that game u just run around a bait red flashes, bone on steel 3-5 enemies, repeat, it's very boring

And unfortunately MN just makes already poorly designed bosses even more annoying, too much fucking life, and every hit from them does 50-75%, a real recipe for fun, yeah their are exploits that can turn the boss fights into complete jokes, but if they were well designed I wouldn't have to exploit them in the first place

Ok, i'm going to say, that those statements about MN and UN NG3RE are not completely true. There is a lot of fun to be had on the enemies, and Steel on bone is not the only way to deal with enemies, and is far from being way more practical than everything else.

It took me a while, but when i could understand how enemy armor works and blocking, and learned to use the crowd control moves and my toolset, i barely use steel on bone on NG3RE.

The dodgy enemies are more problematic though, some you can get guaranteed stun via windpath, but that is not consistent and is a flaw of the game, some big enemies are in general just dumb to fight normally. The game is a mess, and i won't deny that, but the game is not nearly as limited as you stated, in fact, i think it is more open to options than the previous ones.

But there is problems with the nerfing of some of the common strategies of NG2 and NGB, like GTs and UT chaining. And steel on bone, while heavily flawed, it has its fun aspects of it as well.

If only you could apply this level of critical analysis to Dark Souls. :(

But why does it have to be Dark Souls?

well, i have to respectfully disagree with everything you just said, i have a hard time seeing how fun can gleamed from enemies who can block/dodge everything and can armor out of every attack string whenever they please, making any agency i have on their situation completely pointless

also, there's something more practical than bone on steel? a mechanic that lets me instakill a select number of enemies? if there's something more practical than that then please, let me know what it is, so i can abuse it the next time i play NG3RE, which probably will be never cause that game is shit from a diseased dogs asshole

"how fun can gleamed from enemies who can block/dodge everything and can armor out of every attack string whenever they please". Because they actually can't, not all of them. Status post isn't really the ideal way to explain the mechanics, but i'll try to be brief.

Enemies have gaps, that is obvious, but you also can force gaps, windpath is a good way, heavy starters is a good way. The game also gives you built in reset tools for when enemies break out of your chains, and it will also give you tools to successfully stun them.

Of course, like i said, this isn't universaly true, that is why the game is problematic, and the other problematic thing is that good tools that you have with a certain character can be lacking with others.
