No question in my mind. It's just that we gotta have more western fighting game companies in the first place.

They can but it depends. Majority goes to what genre sells the most (shooters and sports).

*Looks at Girlfight/MKvsDC* ugh...... I definitely think the potential is there but it'll be difficult to compete with DOA, SC, VF & Tekken mechanically since Japanese developers are much more adept at "arcade-style" gameplay than Western developers. IMHO, I think MK & Injustice are very rough as competitive FG's, though Killer Instinct is ok, but not outstanding competitively (much better than NRS fighters IMO).

As implied by @Derock, it's a case of Shooters & Sports games selling a lot more along with Western developers being a lot more adept and producing shooters and third-person adventure games than they are at action/hack n' slashes and fighting games.

Ofcourse They Can.... uhm... I can't nominate any one studio specifically... but I'm sure they can.

Also, said developer(s) need the time and resources to contribute, especially when doing the animations of movesets. Gotta make sure its legitimately proportion right.

Short answer: no

Long answer: hell fucking no, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try. I'd love to see another company give the 3d fighter genre a shot, even after the atrocities that are girl fight and mk deadly alliance
