Except people still hate Lucky Chloe and complain today. Shes probably here to stay, which I’m fine with, but the hate is real

I don't get hating on character designs... sure I can understand people not liking them but to just flat out hate on a character for just existing... thats just mean.

Pixels on a screen are serious business in this age. Some worship them.

Anime airdash 2D fighter, easier to grasp than things like GG or KoF but still has a ceiling. I enjoyed it, but right now I'm waiting for the sequel. It's extremely niche so it doesn't have an obnoxious community either.

Odds are the smaller communities are what you're looking for. They aren't trying to create an image to be something they are not. The games that made the Nico complaint want to maintain the image of being "serious". Even GG complained about it's new characters being too anime.

DOA is the odd one out because even before Marie no one outside really cared about it or took it seriously but somehow the new characters are the final blow.

Ha, anything that doesn't go a waifu worshipper's way is the end of the world. The I'm a Fighter campaign was a dud and the neighbors ONLY remembered this series exists after 5UAC launch along with Marie, after which two spinoffs and one mainline game spawned. Wasn't her and Honker's trailer the only one that broke six digits view count as well? Like them or not, calling them "the final blow" is full on idiotic.

People will never take DOA seriously because both it and its players always have this fidgety vibe like they just committed a crime, esp. with the soft ban and the shenanigans with 6. My psych analysis is, people developed a complex after years of being the butt of the joke and have taken to using "see, least i didn't like these MORE controversial things!" as a way to save face. But this just looks even more fidgety.

GG complaining about its characters being too anime is very strange and hypocritical. It was always over the top anime central. I think there might be a surge of people who have a hard-on when they get a chance to fire off statements along the lines of "muh serious image" "muh back then" etc., or it's just another catch-all negative sounding term like "fanservice".
