Umm... It's kind of like that for most fighting games. Casual's are what carry the sales of FG games. Look how many casual-minded people play MK & Injustice for instance.
Team Ninja caters to the competitive side too dude: Battle Royal support? 2 $8000 tournaments, etc? Also DOA6's stun game and neutral game seems more focused at competitive play (still hate fatal rushes I admit).
@UpSideDownGRUNT I mean, Kayane was never serious with the game to begin with though, she doesn't even put it on her bio and she only entered a few tournaments for it. Kayane will stay in her comfort zone with SC and can only see her play the game casually and then forget about it. She left DOA when DOA5 was mid life-span release and she only returned because it's new and latest trends.
I'd like for Kayane to actually sit down and stick with the game but at least she is one of the very few people who actually cares about the series from a casual and competitive perspective via article reads at best.
It's hard for a company I suppose when it comes to the policy, "The customer is always right." Whom is the customer? The people that spend the most money or the ones discovering & appreciating the hard work of the game's intricacy? Basically showcasing the game?
