I never finished Rise lol like. It just felt like it was going onnnnn and onnn and onnnn and onnnn. I got (Apparently) 3/4 the way through Shadow and was like "You know what... I'm not invested in any of these people... Lara doesn't even feel like Lara anymore."

That's bad when you have a single player game feel that way. I hear Days Gone suffers from a couple bad mechanics but the story itself of Deacon has people invested enough even with the Ubisoft-like gameplay loop.

Yeah I dunno like... I beat the first Reboot, like you... And it was "Okay". Tepid at best honestly. And then Rise just felt like the faucet was losing hot water, with Shadow being that moment where you cut the faucet off and tell everyone in the house to let the water heater catch back up before taking a shower. I don't think I'll ever pick any of them up again. Why can't studios be happy with one-offs. Horizon.

The first two weren't too bad, the second being the same as 1st but a little better.... Now the 3rd, it being the same as the first two you'd think it's be pretty good or better but there's something about it.. It's fucking garbage.

The 1st one, I pretty much 100'd everything. Now rise feels weird, like almost impossible to collect everything. The twist that happens, I realized the motive wasn't that evil but the actions taken were. Think I forgot some details. Had something to do with immortality. Think I sympathized with the villian and Laura, so, it felt pointless to pursue. Steppin on Jordans is a better reason to fight.

Laura Croft, she calls herself an archaeologist.. But she's done nothing but destroy every piece of history she comes into contact with.

The Tomb Raider reboot trilogy is brilliant in its own right but it slightly misses the mark from being a masterpiece due to: Relatively poor characterization (Lara started out ok in the first game, then kinda fizzled out a bit as the series went on). Basically the TR reboot trilogy doesn't do a good job of getting the audience to "care" for the characters, which can make the games drag on...

However, the series is pretty brilliant otherwise. Easily one of the best looking 3rd party adventure games, great voice acting, etc. For the vision CD was going for, they may as well copy ND's Uncharted more with regards to character & story development.

I finished Rise a few months ago. It's pretty alright but my biggest disappointment with it was how short it was.

I never understood why people tend to dismiss this and just end up going "One of the best looking games!" but yet that doesn't mean anything if the replay value and length of the game isn't worth anything.

When I buy a $60-40 game that's an action-adventure, RPG etc. I expect from them to be over 40 hours long. Anything shorter and well, not worth 60 bucks.

Yeah this ain't Ps2 era where the long and/or interesting games reached 1000KB, so, you were hyped. Now everything takes a lot of space and you can't pop in and play because of DLs. So you question what you want to keep. It also strains performance of the PS4's menu if you have a lot. Stopped buying physical bc of that.

Yeah PS2 and Xbox OG days were the best. Development for the graphical department was mostly to keep up with the console gen time rather than purely putting 80% of the resource to the graphical portion and everything else with the leftover percentages. Games tend to be a lot longer in the past because of it etc. Never gave a shit about how good the graphics were, was the game good or not, which is the real question.

Yeah, the games with the not so hyper realistic graphics or different style tend to be the more fun titles and you see the passion with the games. If it's bad graphics like, SNES, PS2 or 3 level, it's an indie. Hit or miss. Indies with really good graphics you tend to be more weary and critical. Trying to look pretty for money, like a stripper. No thought, just throwing dollars at it. Hell even AAA titles.

Hellblade, Little Nightmares, Unravel, any remastered releases, those are stripper games. Uncharted, Last of Us, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, that's when you bang the hot escorts. Couple of those you'll probably come back to for another night or a quick sloppy one. Naughty Dog does that good.
