the idea of "if I have a big advantage, why do i still have to worry about my opponents reversal options?", granted that's what makes games like 3S and DOA unique, 3S having parries, red parries and strong wake up OS and DOA having it's hold system, but i can definitely see how it could piss off players of more traditional fighters

hell this even happened to me back in 2013 where i got so frustrated with DOA that I dropped DOA5 and just wanted to play a fighting game where when I landed my hits, i got my damage, and i could press advantage w/o worrying about frame 1 reversals, funnily enough the games i gravitated to during that time were airdashers and NRS games, but they were much less stressful than DOA for me at the time lol

Because they hate the mind games that a hold system requires. They just want to do their braindead Tekken combos without fearing of being interrupted. I don't get where this idea in the FGC comes from, that combos should be guaranteed. IMO evey fighting game should have a hold system; being limited to blocking while defending yourself is retarded.

Fighting games would get real boring real fast if they all had the same DOA hold mind game, but games do generally have defense mechanics that can either break on hit pressure or offer an alternative to blocking, SFA/5 have alpha counters, MK has breakers, airdashers/anime fighters have burst, Smash has DI/SDI, Marvel 3 has TAC's, Marvel infinite has counter switching, the list goes on.

Is why a universal system like DoA and VF and 3S come into play as a player, not a char. Tekken forces people to learn something fundamental like movrment n has hurtboxes for sidestepping. VF has both of Tek n DoA wotlds which why I like it. Throw techs, strike punishment and sabakis. Though DoA tends to movex farther and farther to what made it VF-like beyond controls.

Doa needs to copy vf in every way lol.
