SCVI is better than Tekken 7, but honestly, it has a lot of the same problems as DOA6.
So keep your expectations low.

Could vary. I don't recommend Tekken if you are into it casually, if you are competitive however, it's far worth it in the long run. Customizations is big, but may have reduced over the years (or so i've heard). Pretty good game, but again, could vary.

I can't speak for Soul Calibur, but apparently it's the middle ground of the 3D fighters it seems. It might be Namco's DOA when it comes to moving around.

What are you looking for overall? casual or competitive aspects? better as in quality? support content and development from the devs?

An example of why it can vary: "I'm aiming for a game with superb graphics", then Tekken is not the one as it has the worse graphical output of all 3D fighters.

If your focus is good graphics, you better like Arcsys games, 'cause all the rest are awful, lol

SoulCalibur VI.

Nah, try Divekick or Shaq-Fu instead. Those games are hype lol
Joke aside, get SCVI. Season 2 is coming to make the game even better.

@DestructionBomb I usually start with casual mind set to see if i like the game but if i do i mostly want to learn it better. Graphics aren't my biggest concern more like a plus. Which one is easier to get into? Any idea if those communities are friendly?
DestructionBomb

@Chisa For SC I am unsure. Tekken can vary but in the comp portion is probably the hardest to get into currently due to great lengths you have to do just to get info and time spent playing the game could take years, It has the biggest friendly casual base surprisingly, but it also contains the biggest cesspool of non-friendly (could say a higher ratio of both sorta).

Then again many other communities have bad apples, but to answer you on that, it's both yes and also a no for friendly like anywhere else. It's the biggest community of the 3D fighters, but biggest won't mean better experience so it varies.

Soul Calibur is easier to get into, as its controls are more intuitive and there are better (albeit, still not good) in-game explanations towards system mechancis and the like. But the playerbase for SC is smaller, so getting diverse Match-Up experience is easier in Tekken.

As for friendly communities, they're both FGs. The communities are both pretty culty-FG-oriented. Nothing abnormally welcoming or stand-offish about either, in my experience.

Also, while I clearly have a preference for SC over Tekken, it's only fair to note that SC rewards unga far more than Tekken. If that prospect turns you off entirely, Tekken might be a better bet.

@Brute I suppose Soul Calibur might be a good decent route yeah (least terms middle ground?). Granted all the current 3D fighters have things that just transcends borderline ridiculous, I think tolerance is another thing to add to stick by a game too yeah.

Course, the end decision is from you Chisa, but Soul Calibur seems more reasonable from what I'm reading.

I can try SC, won't do any harm if i try. I did try it a little bit earlier this year but my muscle memory is so badly with DOA so it was kind of hard to change that. I don't know how people manage to play multiple fighting games at the same time. People are talented i guess.

Honestly, I always felt it's just tolerance rather than some sort of talent or skill. Things that you are willing to accept despite playing it. You can play like 6 games but you can still dislike like 2-3 them even if you are good at the game or not. Having the patience to stick by it.

I think a lot of it is talent. Some people can be better at a fighting game after 40 minutes of practice than others can after years of sweat and tears. That doesn't mean that persistence isn't important. It is. But some people are undeniably more talented and these things than others, and it is much easier for them to branch out.
