@Derock You can still co-publish games. Nioh was originally also co-published with Sony and having Sony's strong back up for it. Nintendo with DOAD etc.
People know that you can't just up and buy the actual team out of their hands, but the option to be under a different publisher can be a thing.
@Chaos Depends. On one hand, I can't see how Namco is any different from KT (least in specifics). On the other hand, they do have people who are familiar with fighting games that might promote DOA in a better light.
TN is already working closely with SIE (Sony Interactive Studios) for both the Nioh games. Maybe Sony could also fund and publish DOA. They wouldn't need to rely on greedy and stingy KT anymore and the next DOA could actually be really great. Sony has also become more open to releasing their games on PC, so it wouldn't even have to be a Playstation exclusive game.
Get Gust out of there along with Team Ninja. Don't really care much about Omega Force. despite DW8 being the best Dynasty Warriors game ever and being a pretty good game in general imo, the series have been becoming stale for quite some time now with minor changes to gameplay (same with SW) and when they had to change up the formula, well, we've all seen what happened with DW9.
If DOA was with Namco, DOA6 would be like SCVI at best (which quite frankly is only really marginally better than DOA6), but with long DLC droughts and probably no frame data. I'd be cool with Sony, along with either Square Enix or SEGA. Though if DOA was under Sony, that would suck for Xbox fans (and the Xbox Series X isn't really to be underestimated).
If DOA was to be given to another publisher (which isn't necessary) My best choices would be: Bandai Namco (SCVI), D3 Publisher (Omega Labyrinth, Bullet Girls, Onechanbara), Idea Factory/Compile Heart (Neptunia, Genkai Tokki games, Death end re;Quest), or SNK (SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy).
Worst Choices would be: Sony & Square Enix (Sony: censorship policy, SE: history of toning stuff down).
