I think 3 had it, whether it was good or not I don't remember but I do think 3 (at least 3.1) had some form of backdash cancel based movement

2 has a form of rapidstep, but it's alot more cumbersome that what we're normally used to; basically in order to do it you have hold press P+K+H and mash backdash (dont even have to bother with the 214 input, just 44) sounds simple enough but there's alot little niggles that make it annoying. for starters it's not something you can just do outta nowhere,

, unless you're masking the input behind another moves' recovery the P+H+K input always forces you to whiff a jab, which can be problematic for characters with jabs that have terrible recovery (Bankotsubo's is the worst) and it's kinda counterintuitive to have to whiff a move before you start your rapid movement in neutral

also have to having to set a button to P+K+H can get in the way since the game only lets you customize 6 buttons, and you already have to devote 4 of them to P,K,H, and Freestep, leaving you with 2 buttons for shortcuts, this can kinda be circumvented if you play with both the joystick and the dpad since one of them lets you freestep w/o the use of a button,
