Well tbf those were the only options, MVC2 and VF5FS has been the only real option, mainly since there's no real new title for VF and MVC2 was the only recent game before 3. It's not hard going back to LR but it forces you to downgrade in some areas, especially with the less refined move sets and improvements doa6 did have in some areas

Not that it's hard from what people are going with. It's the fact that DOA doesn't have Smash levels of back up and the incentive to go back to a previous version.

DOA isn't big enough to mitigate that issue due to how split both games are. Smash is so huge that they can play both games at leisure via Melee. DOA does not have that luxury.

And Smash Melee had two full games come out after it, and people still preferred it. In fact their community I believe hated Brawl. Similar situation with DoA. The community as a collective hates DOA6. Revert back to a game that has more depth. The Marvel and VF community does not have to revert to previous iterations.

They're not going to play VF4 when VF5 is superior. MVC2 still has tournaments being played as well. Overall DOA6 is just a terrible title. The stages got worse, the story got worse, and the gameplay got worse. While I like DOA6 Brad over DOA5 it's not going to make me want to play DOA6 more.

Personally, I'd like to see people pull a 3rd Strike/MvC2 and make the previous version of a game bigger than the new one with consistent boost for DOA5, but how exactly are you going to convince people from 6 to play 5? DOA is not like the other modern fighters where magic suddenly happens.

Alright well if that's the case. I'd like to see the community go full throttle to 5 then.

Rooting for 5, but if this becomes a back and forth thing with the community on 6 vs 5 then color anyone not surprised. DOA is being shelf'd as a series atm, so no better time to do it I suppose.

DOA5 outdated? I went back to 5 the other day and it made me realise how much fun I’ve experienced playing the game. DOA5 is everything but outdated.

DOA6 feels more outdated than 5 and the game is barely 2 years old.

I wouldnt say the community as a collective hates 6, people somewhat more prefer LR but it's a stretch to say everyone is playing LR when you still always see people play 6, including those who complain about it. And people will always play what they feel is best, like people still like SC3,2 and 4 and play that and people even still play dimensions and doa2O. It's about what you prefer individually

Doa5 era wise is outdated but if you want to play it I say do so, I still like it and go back to it even tho 6 has refined some areas besides the whole break hold thing and downgraded ground game and lack of any real content

Just because people like SCIII does not mean the collective wants to play it. The game had a lot of replay value, and was fun. Collectively no one wanted to play that competitively, let's be real. SC3 and 4 were terrible.

But I'm not here to discuss those games. DoA5 had more depth to offer and untapped potential. Oki, freestep dash cancel which the community barely scratched the surface with, unholdables, guaranteed setups, stage interactions.
