As interesting as it would sound, I am sort of leaning on the side where Sparda's general character remains a mystery...
... On the other hand.

Some things are best left a mystery

diving into the history of plot relevant background characters rarely works in any medium, usually ends being just a bunch of fanservice and a collection of "here's where he got his weapon!" and "here where he got the name for his thing!" type moments

Yeah, I have to lean on the side of mainly keeping Sparda's character a mystery.

Hmm... I am kinda curious to see how this plays out however.

Some very good points here. Not only that, but Sparda as an individual wasn't really mentioned in DMC's lore other than that he loved his wife Eva and that he was pretty overpowered. So it kinda begs to question, would he even be an overall interesting character at all? because he might have to generate a fanbase behind it. Game sounds like a pipe dream.

@GreatDarkHero @Camel with 2 thumbs @Force_of_Nature True. Honestly, if Capcom does give Kamiya & Itsuno the green light to walk into the building for it, might have to do it where the character starts off completely fresh. Some young Sparda before the whole legendary dark knight kind of thing, like literally how Dante & Nero started but like waaay in the past.

To top it all, that means Capcom would have to give the character an actual personality which may be a hit or a miss. Would he be like Dante but as that cheesy funny dad who's a boomer? or would he be like Vergil with stoic cold and calm personality? or both I guess. I definitely think that he'd have to be a likeable character in the first place or prequel might get botched. Remaining as a mystery makes more sense.
