I guess you just pick a character who gets rewarded highly for guessing right (i.e ninjas and gen fu, and maybe spartan?) but that doesn't seem fun for anyone involved lol

DOA4 was all Helena's game.

Helena, Gen Fu, and Haybusa i'd say. Nothing like facing the fear of no matter what you do you can be izuna'd off a stage in zero frames.

Helena was high tier? I haven't touched her yet but I can see it in a DOA4 meta

just been messing around with the obv S tiers atm, but I am curious to see how not so blessed characters were even supposed to play DOA4, which seems to be half the dam roster lol

High tier? I thought she was SS tier.. her or one of those three Matt mentioned. P+K crushed everything, BKO 22 went through all mids and highs, even true mids. BKO Throw was a vortex, because 1k was a guaranteed force tech. She was just too good. I never understood why Busa was good, but Gen Fu was a god for obvious reasons.

being a striker, busa has a lot of options for untechables into safe unholdable setups. His Izuna defensive holds were normal punch defensive holds. Being izuna'd off a ledge did a lot of damage. being izuna'd into a ceiling did a lot of damage. He could izuna you from a throw, a hold, or an attack. he had a lot of evasion and keepout.

I wouldn't say he's equal to Helena or Gen Fu, but he's certainly Top 5 in the game. Helena was the one who benefitted the most from the ground game meta. The ground game meta was so dominant because they stripped every other area of the game down from being able to do any pressure. It was the only area in the game you could do "combos" or "pressure strings' safely.
