They seem to be going for the "If it ain't broke" approach this time, which is understandable given that the Wii U was quite the flop and the Switch very successful. Tbh, the best way to play Nintendo's games in this day and age is to emulate them. I have a feeling that an emulator for Switch 2 will come out and be much more stable for it than Yuzu/Ryujinx was for the Switch.

Its weird that they don't give a console another shot but for some reason they might not see enough fantasy in it. They could also do something like make PC ports for their non first party titles like Xenoblade 2 since that would probably see like 1 million or close to sales on PC/Steam as well but they don't want to pull the trigger for something like that either.

The only good thing is that all of the Switch games will be backwards compatible. I don't mind buying a Switch 2 (if its on sale for $199).

They would be competing directly with Sony and MS again then, and the funny thing is that there's talk that Sony and MS want to release portables now, lol. Switch has been their most successful platform ever and when it'd normally be the end of a console's life its still selling like hotcakes. Nintendo carved out a huge niche in the market thanks to going low cost due to lower power, they're not gonna drop that.

I think the last time Nintendo released a proper competent home console was the Gamecube (more powerful than a PS2) and it flopped since it lacked a DVD player, and used mini-discs instead of DVD's (ala the PS2 & Xbox). I would absolutely like Nintendo to release a proper home console thus relegating the "Switch 2" to handheld status. I just hate how gimped Nintendo games feel since the Wii.
