To be fair, Ryu's taunts were always lame, ever since DOA2. His intro/outro lines used to be badass, though. Not so much now.

I think Ryu's problem is that he is part of the "Hero" archetype like Batman, so he has to maintain that image. Ayane on the otherhand is a foil to Kasumi (and an "antagonist" to her), so she doesn't have to give any fucks. Hence the awesome taunts! >
Though, for me I can't stand when an Online Ayane taunts me after a round or match that was essentially a lagfest.
