@Force: Just the two things I always had a problem with since the very beginning: Holds and Wakeup Kicks. It seems like they really hold me back from doing any kind of winning.
They exist lol. Seriously, that's what's doing it. I don't get advantage on knockdown because I don't want to deal with WU Kicks, and I just constantly get held out of stuns. I hate it.
That's the aspect of DOA that takes the most adjusting too. You can't autopilot like in other games and need to find ways to discourage opponents from doing WU kicks. Holding them is a start. Crushing's another option.
Autopilot isn't the right word. There are plenty of options in any situation in other fighters, this game just seems to favor the one on defense a lot more than others. It's just a shame I don't HAVE a defense yet. There's never any situation in this game where I feel like it's my turn.
If someone holds too much or too often, particularly in stun, throw them for 150% hi-counter damage. DOA5U isn't defense biased. DOA2-4 were more defense biased.
Yeah I know there's an option for everything, the problem is I never seem to choose the right option. Normally I could blame it on being too predictable, but there are cases where I do something I haven't done in 10 games, but it still gets countered, just off of a guess, and that shit pisses me off so hard.
It sounds like you're ready to learn the metagame. The biggest problem that newer players struggle with is being too predictable and autopiloting their setups. People tend to hold at certain times.
You don't want that, do you?
