And I got low held over and over out of 3H+KK the night before last. It's really not a great tool anymore. Nothing is. Not to mention this guy is incredibly unsafe now, sorta like Kasumi. I'm done. -.-
He has to play shenanigans and guessing in order to win honestly. All his tools are less effective than they were and an opponent that knows how to punish well will be a nightmare for him.
I wish that PL would drop his guide already on Hayate. I wanna know what I'm doing wrong that he's doing right. He said he felt that Hayate was godlike not too long ago, that he was just utilizing different moves.
I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing what the guide is like. All I know is that I've been abusing 8/2 P+K. It's unsafe but rarely punished and people love to press puttons when I delay my strings so it usually lands.
I'd imagine he's been using that guard break pressure, with any version off 66(P+K). It grants +1, but it seems like it could easily be interrupted... ya know?
Agreed, I honestly think he should get more frame advantage from the guard break. something along the lines of +5. But at the very least 66PP and 9PP can catch people off guard. If you do the first hit from a distance and it whiffs depending on your positioning the fully charged 2nd hit will send him forward a great distance and catch your opponent.
His low game is bad too. Since they took away his 1k from doa2-4, and left it with hitomi, as well as his low slide from his wind dash, he hasn't had much mixups on heights. 1k was an important parrt of my arsenal in the previous DOA games... and that low slide... it was just bad ass. Not great damage but a great move for catching someone off guard.
Definitely have to agree, the most use his lows have is either on water or simply for the frame advantage you get from the low hitting. I wish the guy could be buffed to 3.1 Status. Frame advantage on 9PP, safe 6P. But I'd just settle for him not being one of the most unsafe characters of the game too...
Heh the thing about this game is that they did so much good to the mechanics... but they destroyed some of the characters. I feel like Hayate felt the worst but I don't play Helena or any others seriously. I just mess around learning some properties. A safe 6p would be nice though. It was on the list of his best pokes.
Maining a character will always give you a more detailed look on them than anyone else. It's why I scoff at anyone that says Akira is top tier and am astounded at anyone saying anything of Hayate's is "too good". And yes, if 6P was safe that would be amazing. But imagine if it was +1 or +2 on block? He would instantly go up a tier from that alone.
I agree that +1 or +2 on that would be a bit much. Thing is, I've played Hayabusa before and I've kept watch on him. He feels gross now, he's slower now, slower than usual, and to get any real advanatage he's gotta hope off of ninpo 6p4
Tell me about it. Higura complains about my "zoning" game, but that's the ONLY game Ryu's got. His CQC is just too darn slow to hold up to anyone but other sloths like Bass.
His crushes help some, but not against opponents who can spam fast mids (Kokoro, Hitomi, Hayate, etc.)
Sure, he can dish out some great damage (and has quite a few notable guard breaks), but those only matter if you can actually strike your opponent without being intercepted.
Still, I'm working on some new options. 33p4 is nice.
Yeah he just doesn't like that you don't approach. You wait. Frankly I could take you down probably without a thought if I wasn't so ballsy. I underestimate the range between me and you so that's why I ran into a lot of those moves of yours. Master on the other hand puts up pressure with ninpo 6p4 into pretty much all his other options. It's nice.
I mean shit, once you go into the second ninpo to get up the pressure you can 6p4 again, or you could ppp, or if you want to fake someone out go for dynamic entry with 8p or 8k, and to close the distance with a hard knock down, 6k, and hell if you land the first 6p4, you could even go for a k into the air throw. So many options.
Yeah, unfortunately the ong6P looks a lot faster than it is. As far as not liking that I don't approach, that's a double-edged sword. At range, typically the first to attack falls, so its unwise to lurch in. Especially with Ryu, whose only good gap-closers come from ongyoin, not running like most.
"Frankly I could take you down probably without a thought.."
You pretty much did, unless my memory is failing me. I haven't faced you all that much, but you dominated our matches IIRC.
I can only in my wildest dreams hope to match anything close to Manny's Ryu, lol
