I hate Ayane because she's a slippery little ninja that's (to me) an easy win for both noobs (I hate to use that word) and experts. I think she's a cheap character.
Ayane is actually very difficult to play successfully at a high level. But admittedly, she actually is one of very few in the game that has the tools to fight the entire roster.
The funny thing is I'd rather fight Christie than Ayane too, but I will let you know that Ayane is neither cheap nor "an easy win". Christie on the other hand... lol. Ayane is easily one of the Top 5 toughest characters to use in DOA5LR.
Yeah, she excels at that as well as forcibly slows down the game to make the timer truly matter. Momiji does the same thing, Ayane is just better than her and better at it.
It's actually not the ranged game that necessarily aggravates me about Ayane. It's that she gets rewarded so heavily for punishing the slightest thing. The ridiculous hard time approaching her just adds to the aggravation.
All of Ayane's strong points will only ever come into play by a smart player. Not necessarily just the character. When I'm mirror matching or just playing another Ayane, I lookout for gimmicks, rather than solid play.
Because everyone else that plays me in the mirror or just a match up against their Ayane. They want to force situations on me without having conditioned me into anything. The character can't do anything if you aren't conditioned for anything, at all.
Well for about 90% of Ayanes, you can win entirely on punishment. An yes, stupid Ayanes can be punished all over the place. I taught an Ayane player in my scene how to use her properly and once he stopped playing stupidly, the MU quite frankly just became a pain in the ass. It wasn't hard to win per se, but is just aggravating to do what is required to win.
It's not really a matter of challenge since I don't mind fighting other characters (aside from maybe ALPHA but that's a different issue) or much better players offline but I guess I have an appreciation for just how fucking annoying Ayane is to fight.
