In terms of gameplay, Honoka is a bit underrated. However the character forums right up there are more underrated than Honoka.

As much as I hate to admit, I think Gen Fu is a bit underrated as well. Honoka is more talked about in playing dress-up than the standard core gameplay. People even forget Jacky exists.

Naotora is not underrated, she's just bad. All of the males except Hayate and Hayabusa (the free ones) are underrated.

Ein. A lot of people say he is low tier and is impossibru to win with at high level. While I agree it is difficult to play him (especially with bad match ups like Helena or Christie), I still believe he has a lot going for him.

Ein is still used from time to time though lol. Granted it may be difficult to win with him but he's definitely picked for usage.

As for Naotora, I don't think she is that impressive either but because of that, people won't pick her up besides a small few.

Raidou is definitely the most underrated character, a close second would be Brad. Both very difficult characters to use.

Not even sure why Raidou wasn't picked on the main status. Bayman is not even that close for underrated. Even tournaments listing doesn't have Raidou.

I will be a tournament raidou player once I'm not broke and know more with Papa Rai Rai

I personally think Bayman's better than Raidou and can compete better at higher levels. Both characters are capable of a lot of damage however. Personal opinion of what I think of the characters aside, I wouldn't mind seeing Honoka or Naotara (*coughs* Not KKKKKKKK/6KKKKKKK mashing *coughs*) utilized in a competitive environment. Good answers so far. I was thinking Bass too...

Bayman is better than Raidou. Bayman is not more underrated than Raidou. You simply get a ton more respect for winning as Raidou if we are actually pip picking here.

What i'm going with is directly towards your status and I picked the ones in terms of entirety of underrated characters.

Gunna go out on a limb and say I'm surprised no one picked Alpha-152 lol. She's one "low-tier" character that can fuck you up real fast if given the opportunity.

@DestructionBomb Fair Enough. I actually didn't say "most" underrated. Just some characters that should be utilized competitively a little more. Raidou was definitely up there, though I was feeling Bayman's toolset a bit more.

Haha, sorry dude, I did miss it. I think you listed a few too many characters IMO. The VF's aren't underrated, just Pai (and Jacky to a lesser extent, honestly don't think he's good in DOA5). Feels weird to call Eliot underrated now, since he's won at least 6 tournaments.

Hell yeah Bayman is better than Raidou. Was merely being technical with your status on any competitive playing field whether it's playing on the net or off the net. Simply because they approach things differently.

Honoka for example, is used everyday on the net for statistics for obvious reasons. The status goes to different meanings if we are actually going by statistics on character usage.

if it's about bayman he's the best heavyweight of the game, period and alpha is practically the glass cannon of the game .

If you are making it off the net only, then the list would be even longer as off the net has less minimum players than the average everyday basis of connected players playing on the modem. Tournaments for example, are not everyday.

Haha, I noticed. Both Bayman & Raidou are pretty underutilized though. I was thinking Leon too, though Leon gets a fair amount of usage (and people like FLACK absolutely destroy with Leon). Though we could have a different discussion on: Underplayed characters.
