another NG? as long as they keep hayashi far away from the directors seat i;m down. they should get someone to direct it, how about that itagaki guy? im sure he aint doing nothing
It's pretty hard to tell. When Itagaki was on board for NG1-2, they did pretty well. Then things just wasn't the same after it. What I did like about TN is their focus to the Sony platform now, so they gave Playstation users a taste of Ninja Gaiden. (Kinda, with changes).
I still believe that whole philosophy about Itagaki's like for Xbox is all mumbo jumbo. Console is all specs and not magic and how well they make/port those games to these specific consoles. Having Itagaki on board will just make shit more exclusive to a catered console. Least towards his vision of gaming.
if they need to revive this series, they gotta do some different this time. I personally would like multiple playable characters with interlinked stories, if they can put all the 6 known characters in together with proper unique skills and their own stories, it might work.
I don't mind more playable characters. I do like the whole adventure progress from NG1/B. Had like 1-2 puzzles as well if I remember, they could keep it that way. NG3 just staged to things.
Nioh will receive a sequel no doubt. TN's biggest success in a long time. As for Ninja Gaiden, I'm sure TN will eventually do a sequel though I can't see it being high on the priority list. NG3 & Yaiba were both failures both critically & commercially. With regards to Itagaki, he was godlike during the PS2/Xbox era, but was very mediocre during the 360/PS3 era.
DOA4 & NG2 were steps in the wrong direction for both franchises, especially after the stellar predecessors DOA3 & NG1. However NG3 was also a considerable misstep for the franchise, which was corrected a bit with NG3RE. I personally don't think either Itagaki or Hayashi are good for Ninja Gaiden and the franchise has dug itself quite a hole with its inability to successfully match the quality of Ninja Gaiden 1.
I love NG and at its core NG3RE still has pretty solid mechanics, but is there anyone at TN that can tell a quality story for NG? I also concur that NG1 has excellent story pacing and level design, which I find is lost on NG2 & NG3. I.e. Not simply: Point A to B, kill everything in between, but some "adventuring" in between like DB implied.
