By that logic: 'oh, this is in windowed mode, let's put this in full screen' 'CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEATERR' oh my computer isn't the best i need to change the graphics so i can at least be able to play the game 'CHEATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER' lel
OS's are just a complex series of inputs that can counter a variety of situations. How is that cheating? It's not like you're altering values or anything, it's just covering your bases
Except the problem with option selects, like in SFIV, they covered multiple in some case all options. They eliminate mind games which is why they were removed in SFV. Don't know if that's the case in other fighters, but they caused a lot of discussion on whether or not if they were fair. Most developers would remove them if possible like Capcom did. IMO, when I did play fighting games, I thought they were quite lazy.
Justify however you want... point is they're unintentional.
I'm pretty sure the developers of any fighting game didn't come up with multiple ways of defending or opening people up only for people with faster fingers to subvert all that strategy into one winning formula.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying you shouldn't use them... if you're not using whatever tools you have at your disposals then why play any competitive game at all.
I'm just saying they rubbish and definitely shouldn't be there.
unless it's some end all be all counters all the options OS that's impossible to beat, i say let 'em stay. from the ridiculous stuff like the momochi tech to something as simple as buffering an anti air behind a grab, cover your bases bro
that said, i do understand that when OS's become too powerful (ala SF4), i can see why having them can be seen as cheap, funnily enough SF4was the game i was playing when i heard my opponent say this, should of just blocked bro
