On read is more interesting like in VF (and to a lesser extent DOA with neutral throws). In SoulCalibur or Tekken throw-breaking feels boring. Like, you only hit a throw because the opponent wasn't paying attention. In VF or DOA there are more interesting throw situations.
i feel ya, in nitroplus blasterz the throw tech window is like 20 frames, which pretty much means you're only landing a throw a if you're playing online or your opponent isn't paying attention, then you have games like guilty gear where the throw tech window is 2 frames i,e you have to know your opponent is gonna throw if you wanna break 'em.can't say i greatly prefer one over the other though
