Like when I hear a lot of complaints about Tekken and the skill gap between players with a lot of experience and people beginning and they say they always have an advantage, I feel like that's almost how it should be. If people play Tekken as long as the 1st one or whatever.......

Then I feel that they should have an advantage cause they work the hardest and they put the most time in a game. Not just Tekken, but DOA and other fighters as well. But people want games to be like Mario Party where everyone has a chance to win and I'm against that cause then there'd....

Be no point in practicing if anyone can pick up the game and dominate. Sure it makes for good upsets and stuff but I'd rather there be good upsets where someone clearly outplays a person vs if someone upsets but it's not as significant. Idk. Whenever I debate reducing skill gap.....

Regardless of the game I feel it's difficult to discuss that aspect. On one end, I do think there should be more accessibility to games that can get people acquainted into the game. But making it so everyone can win isn't something I'm for also.

I understand not wanting a complete novice to rival craft veterans insofar as it would indicate poor game design. On the other hand, I don't believe that time spent with something should necessarily be the primary factor in how competent/successful you are with it.

For example, there's a long-time PSN user who basically only uses Kasumi's 66PP, 66K and 1PP despite playing the game for years now. I believe that after a few days with the game, even a newbie should be able to beat that person, despite clearly having put less time (and probably effort) in.

I don't think you're the only one and I don't think this only Applies to Fighting Games.

Gamers by natures have a grossly over inflated sense of how good there are at Video Games, so when they stumble across a game that actually requires this level of commitment. It exposes them for who they really are... and they don't like that... Thats why they play Dark Souls. ;)

As for that Video. I firmly disagree. What he's describing is basically the Video Game equivalent of Hazing. "It took me years of practice to learn this super move therefore new players should struggle with it too."

Also he left one thing out of the Video is Ryu's V-Skill isn't as good as it was in SF3... in SF3 Parries were Instantaneous. They could be done on Reaction but the V-Skill version has a Startup To it. I don't know how long it is but its long enough that it needs to be used by Prediction.

Let me compare this to Professional/College Sports. I feel that looking at the competitive perspective, I'm watching the best players compete. I like seeing players at their best compete to win a championship. Whether it's NBA, NFL, etc. Now given NCAA is more exciting cause even as.....

the best teams will still play well, there are upsets. But it isn't because the team had more luck or whatever. It's because they took the time and played their hardest and to the best of their ability. It also helps that it's single game elimination.......

We can tell if a team slacked off or they play the same way cause even in NFL that happens. Not to say there isn't luck that happens but when I watch at the competitive level, I can say ok these are the best teams and they put in the work to have that shot.

Now to say this, there are rookies or 1st years that play well (Ben Simmons in NBA, Fourniette in NFL, etc). But as of now I don't expect them to take on LeBron or whoever's the best in NFL right away but I can see them putting up a good fight. It's the same way I see in Competitive gaming.

Not to say there shouldn't be stuff to help a new player but thats why there's training or tutorials (That's the big thing I'll criticize about Tekken to this day.). I want the same feeling as if I practice my shooting and when I play I'm 60% from 3 point range in a game cause I practice and I see progression. It would make no sense.........

That someone who hasn't even touched a game can make someone struggle cause the game has to appeal to more casuals and it has good "Upsets" but then when he's getting dogged in Grand finals vs a dude that definitely knows how to play the game, that doesn't make for entertaining fights to watch. It's an iffy topic but I hope that sheds more light.....
