One of the things I'll always give props for the VF community (and DOA) is the use of number notations. Don't care if people call it read issue, skill issue, whatever lolol. Notations that games like MK uses (or even Tekken) will forever look silly to me.

It's pretty much exactly the case that they just haven't made a good one like you mentioned. Having a mobile game is pretty close to standard now these days since practically almost every other major game company has one. Capcom, Namco, Square etc. It's mostly the "why wouldn't they have one"...
