The AI is indeed not the best measure of skill. To avoid mashing you can; - Pick bass. Effectively mashing is practically impossible with him - Pick Kokoro. More mashable, but since her strings are short and linear, they are easily punished if you mash. You'll be forced to resort to a few inputs.
