I started the download earlier before I left for work. File was larger than I expected but hopefully, it can finish when I get home in the morning so I can spend the rest of the day trying it out.

A guest character like Mai as the first wave of DLC makes some sense since it will attract newcomers but it probably would have been better if she and the other KOF character were in the game from the start instead of DLC. Likely, TN didn't want the guests drawing attention away from everyone else.

Why not Mai?

PBS confirms that there is onle ONE Kagura character and by extension, only one Naraku; she says in PBS that she befriended the Mikaguras by traveling between universes.

7even is billed as such since its the seventh game but will likely follow the story from the shinobi master anime (which now that I think about ti, never mentions Shin, the main youma)

The playstation games follow a different timeline starting with Shinovi versus which also follows the Hanzo ending of burst and estival versus follows the hanzo ending of shinovi versus which then goes to PBS then the shinobi master anime.

The 3ds games are set in a different timeline from the playstation games. Deep crimson (SK2) is the direct follow up to the story of Burst, specifically the hanzo ending.

I'm probably being too hopeful over this theory but I'm sure a lot of people are expecting her and Momiji to come back as DLC. TN knows people want them back, for all we know, they didn't make it in the base release specifically because they know people will buy them as DLC.

But why would they give Honoka (a character whose whole point gamplaywise it to copy moves from others) the move of a character who wont return?

I thought shared the opinion that Rachel (and Momiji) isnt a guest? And Honoka's move list is all about copying moves of other characters. If it is copied from Rachel, it could hint that Honoka copied it during the 5th tournament. At the very least, if it is taken from Rachel, it confirms her as...

Naotora and Mai are guest characters though

I haven't been paying much attention to Raidou's return so it might be an overlooked move from him but it does look like Rachel's power blow.
