Oh no - I meant I hope it doesn't build for the player who's hit is blocked. Being able to wail on someone, and then unleash the meter when the other guy blocked everything correctly, would be silly.
They weren't going to reveal with Marie or Honkers up front while trying to sell the 'less fan service' angle. I'm certain you'll be fine.
Looking forward to seeing Marie play bodyguard for Helena in her story segment ^^
Deffo, @Lulu - having an F+ chucking out, say, an A/S player's combo knowledge on one button will be an eye opener. Plus Break Hold sounds frustrating. DoA4 frustrating.
Hopefully the meter is deep, and takes a while to fill, and that blocked hits don't charge it.
The thing with Power Blow, @Giannola is that the downplayer practically has to have lost to use it.
Fatal Rush will be available from the beginning of the fight, with Break Blow/Hold available after a number of hits landed.
I don't honestly know. I've never struggled with them - I main Leifang, and some of her's are horrible - but I do have friends that simply can't complete the combo challenges. Even the easy ones, like Hitomi.
I don't know how much they datamine. Perhaps they can see the avg complexity of our...
Perhaps the four hit string will be chosen from a pool, making it a bit like the AI controlling the player character for you? That could work. No artificial difficultly added to holding the moves... Just a string from a set of strings that the more experienced player should recognize, anyway.
Re: Holds.
Yeah, they do. And unless there's some form of artificial effectiveness applied, the better player can just negate them.
Not sure how I feel about that possibility. Climbing the ranks should make the game harder, because the opponents are harder. Not make the game harder, because...
That said, what I'd rather not see is anime-tiddies™ replaced with base violence/gore, just because certain countries are fine with one, but Edwardian about the other.
The level of violence in DoA is okay as it is. The focus is on the martial arts. We won't need to be seeing broken bones and...
I see it as an easier mode Power Blow, where the less experienced player gets another "I win" button, but under less demanding conditions.
As long as the initial hit for each is consistant in direction and holdable, I'm game. Plus, the zoomed in animations are flashy.
ikr :p
Will be interesting to see how things pan out. I wouldn't at all be surprised if a big portion of the existing playerbase knee-jerks to the fan service comments. Not that Helena's outfit looked any less servicey to me...
Words and actions, etc.
Contracts end. It's a shame, but that's life. At least there'll be space for a full DoA cast of favourites, rather than there being the risk of having to drop anyone major.
Plus, DLC, right? :p Gotta have those monies pouring in later.
Not keen on the meter or the 'macro' button, but then, it's not really a huge leap from Power Blow, so...
All for reigning the fanservice in, but we've heard that before, and look at how it worked out in 5 ;)
And hell, it may be that she's taking time out because she's just had a baby. But the fact that the publisher didn't even comment on the matter suggests otherwise.
It was a big, big deal, what happened with her and Takahiro, here.
I don't think you understand - it's not about what the company wants. It's contractual law. It's her face. They have to pay to use it. Now she's 'damaged goods' in the public eye, they may not want to fund her anymore. Dead contract. Either pay to renegotiate or abandon the character.
Which...
(Keep in mind, Emi isn't just the VA for Okatsu - her entire likeness was used to create her in-game model. There was a big marketing drive based on her inclusion in the cast.)
