Other than the samurai set piece this 'looks' like a better Ninja Gaiden successor than 3 did just because of the non - flat levels, pacing and large bosses that I didn't see in the first few levels of NG3.

Costume catalogs and updates are usually two different things. If you don't want to see the costume, I would advise against downloading the catalog. You should be able to receive new game updates though.

Not following your logic. Just like w/ Kickstarter projects those costs are just a small percentage of total costs, but that doesn't mean it doesn't apply to overall budgets in the long run.
