Execution is still an important part of fighting games. This is simply an example of you messing up your execution (and your opponent capitalizing). Why you messed it up however is only something you can answer.
Partly true.
That said, you shouldn't discount how the SG community came together to pull this off. No drama with folks saying shit about the money going to the wrong charity and such. Just folks buttoning down and giving as much as they can... as well as those who can't give any more doing...
Calculations seem to be wrong. Should be:
Yes - 75 vote(s) 72.82%
No - 28 vote(s) 27.18%
EDIT:
It seems to be counting those who didn't vote in the final tally. This means that there are 10 people who didn't vote.
Just saw this on IGN (it's actually a couple of days old).
Looks like the poll is getting some coverage.
People tend to forget that high damage/high risk actually emphasizes the neutral game.
I am now anxiously waiting for his comments on how long air combos in UMvC3 should always require TACs so he can escape out of them seeing as he's picking that game up.
In this case, Marvel 3 is a very good example since balancing the game pretty much revolved around making sure that almost everyone has access to near broken shizz that can be used in a match. By borrowing from the lessons of what the players made out of Marvel 2, the game has a greater spread...
IMO, this is how games should be balanced. Heck, look at some older staples from EVO and other tournaments (MvC2, 3S, CvS2, etc.), these games do tend to have something like this amontgthe top tiers.
You know, here's what I can do. You guys go and make a big deal about this. Start some noise, make a petition, etc. and I will do what I can (barring any editorial issues) to put this up on SRK's front page.
