Depends on how you look at it. For me DOA5 was definitely that period. Especially when you factor tournaments for the game and memorable moments from tournaments that I still remember from that period. Easily the biggest crowds DOA will probably ever get; but I remain hopeful.

Blasphemous has different mechanics. They are both 2D and both characters wield swords. Two similarities. I don’t hear anyone else griping about it.
