I remember actually reading the review online and them saying that the game is showing it's age since its mechanics really haven't changed and I remember thinking "If it's not broke don't fix it"?

This might be wrong but I think the way Famitsu works is that they have 4 reviewers who each submit a score. So it's not that there was a specific category where it was scored as less but just that 2 reviewers gave it an 8 this time instead of a 9.

I know a score for a fighting game is meaningless but I still enjoy reading reviews. This one is from Famitsu who thought it was pretty decent: Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate (9/9/8/8, 34 points): Not quite as innovative as a Puppeteer, perhaps, but according to Famitsu, the new DOA delivers on...

Well I don't necessarily agree with all the costumes (specifically the Eliot one) but there's a possibility that they'll release another first time pack for ultimate that includes the characters that weren't in the original free one.

Agreed. DOA5+ demo had Ryu, Kasumi, Tina, and Eliot so that at least had a little more variety. I think they did that on purpose though so that people would want to buy additional fighters (I still stand by my saying that F2P = free to pay) Hayate pissed me off to no end earlier in the series...

Maybe Ein will bring the gore with those good vibrations?

My thoughts: Infinites - suck but they thankfully don't happen too often. Would I like them removed? Yes. But it won't keep me up at night if they're still in ultimate. Guaranteed combos: not mindless at all. Require muscle memory and timing. A fight should not be completely random with chaos...
