In my experience with everyone I've ever played with casually, friends and family, including myself, 3D fighters are way easier to get into than 2D ones, generally speaking. I think even VF is easier to pick up than any 2D fighter. Easiest of all is "brawlers" like Smash Bros. But honestly...

I think it's because too many of the evolved forms have them stand up on their hind legs. Ironically, there's a trend of artists drawing them with them standing on all fours. I've even seen some vtubers playing the game that keep saying "don't stand up, don't stand up" when their pokemon evolve...
