I would say could be true. They could be investigating the situation or waiting for the person to make a possible slip-up. Most of the main news stories for this were removed, save VGChartZ and some tech website.

At this point I don’t see a reason to completely dismiss all of his claims. I’m just trying to find the motive behind it. Did he get fucked over? Did something else happen? I don’t get it.

It's kind of hard to believe they were working on a sequel that quickly after DOA6. I'm more inclined to believe it was a fixer upper to DOA6 - but then current gen systems like PS5 and XBOX Series X fixed a lot of problems, so they decided to scrap it. That's my guess but I could be wrong.
