so i just got done watching episode 3 of Kill la Kill and it did something i was very impressed by.

if you dont know the show, its about a girl who puts on a ridiculously skimpy outfit to go super mode and fight a school.

this is the outfit
really.jpg

as soon as i saw this my first thought was "no way am i going to be able to take these fights seriously" well i still cant but thats because the entire premise of the show is utterly insane.

anyhow during her fight with the the other girl dressed exactly like this i noticed i was never rolling my eyes into the back of my head with obnoxious panty shots, why? because there were none. the camera actually stayed fixed on their bodies as a whole the entire time and when they were speaking it moved to their faces. just like it would any other action show.the times that there were more perverted shots was when the action took a break and it was used during funny moments. this to me really solidified what i always expected, that the difference between tasteful and tasteless is all about presentation. compare this show to something like Highschool of the Dead and you can really see what im talking about.

By the way, regarding "Hot Ryu":

I completely missed those (no wonder since I don't really follow Gamestop's Twitter) but they had a kinda witty Hot Ryu preorder promotion campaign. Here are some of the memes they made:

(I find this one the funniest, lol.)

What's even supposed to be so "hot" about it? all it does is show his torso and give him a beard, looks more like "Hobo Ryu" than "Hot Ryu"

Ripped torsos and/or being shirtless doesn't equate to hot either, the hobo comment was more to how shredded the gi is and the hand wraps.

Ugh... Can you stop with Grump jokes EVERYTIME I disagree with something? Its getting kinda annoying.

Also, it's a valid question, I genuinely don't get how making him shirtless and giving him a beard makes him hotter than his default appearance.

Read the articles I especially searched and posted for you, Grumpy! >__>'

One day the light of hot Ryu will touch you as well.
No it won't, I don't find this Ryu any hotter than default Ryu which I also don't find hot.

Grumpy! >__>'
Seriously, can you stop?

Also, I can't atm @Tyaren because my phone just crashes and explodes. You'll have to give a TLDR.

All I could is something about objectification which still doesn't automatically mean ots somehow hotter

Can you really not understand why showing more skin on a ripped guy makes him hotter to people that like guys? Or how a very masculine feature like a beard can appeal to people that are attracted to masculinity?

I honestly believe Kotaku shouldn't be linked because it's hypocrisy central but otherwise I can applaud how people is taking Hot Ryu...

Male Fanservice does happen and it should be noticed, even if it's exaggerated.

Well that's all on taste, you can like guys and not be interested in ripped masculine men whatsoever. Same with beards, actually, you can still look masculine and be clean shaven.

I just think that less clothes shouldn't automatically = hotter/sexy... it's often not the case, take DOAs costumes, I find more fully clothed options waay more sexually appealing than half dressed ones examples being Hitomi's Police uniform, super girl costume, and even her C2. Even Ein is sexier in C1 than say his C3 or any of the semi naked trash he's got the last two packs in a row,

EDIT:
Although I do have to admit I'm a total horn dawg for Leifang's Tropical Sexy and Beach Party "costumes" and even her recent halloween costume  so I'm actually totally being 100% hypocritical here but I do find a lot of the clothed costumes sexier.

Muscles are very popular at least here in america. People like Ryan Reynolds, Zac Efron, Chris Evans, and Channing Tatum almost seem contractually obligated to take off their shirts in every movie they're in and no wonder, they're some of the biggest celebrity crushes over here. Magic Mike was so popular it got a sequel.

Of course you can. Beards, like a strong jaw or broad shoulders, enhance masculinity. It's something to add on if you want someone to look MORE masculine.

I for example can't grow a real beard... :/ And after I bought Street Fighter 5 I went to the store to buy me some nice bottle of wine and the woman on the checkout honestly asked for my ID. I am 30(!) and alcohol is legal with 16(!) here in Germany. XD (This has happened to me before but doubting I even look like 16 is imho a bit much...) This would certainly not have happened to Hot Ryu. So he is cool!

Maybe it's just me, I don't find body/facial hair attractive in the slightest lol

Male or female, I'm also not too big on muscles on guys either but I like muscles on girls.

Maybe it's just that I have some weird warped thing where I like effeminate guys and masculine females.
