DOA5LR ABC Interviews Tom Lee

With Last Round's release in the coming days it is no surprise that Creative Director, Tom Lee has been busy day after day with fresh press, interviews and statements for the community. This time he's being interviewed by News 10 at ABC news discussing how Last Round is not milking the franchise and more.

It almost seems like the game is a franchise all its own within the DOA brand. Dead or Alive 5 has four versions of the game that were released more than two years since the original DOA 5 game, and there have been loads of additional paid DLC content that's been released over the years - most of which being costume packs. Some might see this as Team NINJA and developer KOEI Tecmo milking the franchise. Lee, on the other hand, sees it a bit differently saying it's all because that's what DOA fans want.

"Our DLC program is really based on our interactions with our fans and consumers," he said. "If they don't buy our DLC then we would probably stop or slow things down, but it's really reflective of the fact that they are constantly buying DLC from us at the pace that it's coming out."

What do you think of Tom Lee's retorts to naysayers, and how much DLC have you purchased since Vanilla?

So there'll be less DLC than usual? Or maybe ones similar to DEAD OR ALIVE 5 VANILLA'S???
mayor y u so obsessed with DOA5 Vanilla's DLC packs of 4?

They make costumes, people buy them, so they keep making costumes, so people keep buying them.

Surprise surprise.

Tom Lee is always quite nervous in terms of interviews but I believe he handled it perfectly.
He is certainly no Hayashi.

Supply and Demand.

There is demand for these costumes clearly since they keep on being bought so naturally the supply will go up to meet that demand. As a business they are doing to correct thing to generate profit to ensure their employees are secured and grow their business.

I'm happy people keep buying the DLC that TN puts out. Complain all you want but those sales show Koei Tecmo that the franchise is worth investing in. Just look at SEGA to see how that could go south. We have a franchise largely because of the casual fanbase (and I mean casual in the sense that they don't even think to go online looking for an FSD-esque place to discuss it). It's ridiculous to try to belittle casuals when they are the reason we have a new title, that our tournament players have some extra chances at increased income for the year, and that we have things to discuss here.

It's kinda like the argument that Marvel made for all those years in regard to inundating & overusing the mutant characters, particularly Wolverine. It was part of the reason they went bankrupt years back.

If they want to prove they are not milking the series they will give us ALL of the content on this disc since it is the 3rd? 4th? time we are buying the game. If they want our respect the content will be on this disc and there won't be 20 dollar DLC in a month.
