Can DOA finally be taken seriously?

judging by what we've seen so far the gameplay seems pretty solid(hopefully). They seem to still use fan service to sell to the casual? Am I the only one who wish they would do away with this? I really don't care to see a character in a bikini in a fighter. I'm sure it's something that will turn some people off, too. People would just look at it as a hentai. Just wondering everyone oppinon.

It's definitely not perfect but the game is going the right way. I personally see it as the best in the series right now (Never played 3.1 though).

Yeah, doing away with fan service isn't going to happen, they've clearly stated this several times and they've even said basically that they don't give a rat's ass if you like fan service(or how their "girls" are designed) or not, at least that's how me, myself, and I, interpreted it. I know I have a colorful interpretation of it, but w/e.

I personally think that it's part of DOA's "flair" now, if you will and that without it, it wouldn't be DOA to me. If all the girls suddenly got A/B cups and physics were gone, the awesome clothes(well not all of it), etc...it would be another game.

Also, they don't just sell the game to casuals that way, they've made a lot of single player things for them as well in DOA5 and even went out of their way to make story mode sound like it'll be interesting to people who don't even LIKE single player modes.

Just because this is the DOA competitive site, doesn't mean that everyone hates anything casual related. I know you didn't say anything about that, but I just wanted to clarify it.

Absolutely the FGC is more open minded than ever and there are a ton of players that are in need for something new.

I love doa new look and design. I don't think if they toned down on the perversion it would make it "less" doa. I don't think they need to add bikini, or crazy boob bouncing, or anything to make it entertaining, nor do I think taking it away would make it "less" doa. DOA is about more than bouncing boobs, right? My point is some people just think DOA is a pretty hentai, and I was wondering what people thought about this. I don't think this, but some people do and I think as long as the fan service is strongly involved people will always have this out look. People can't really backlash at people with this thought either considering it's originally what made the series popular and obviously going to bring in mostly casual with it.

The reality is that you're going to find big breasted, scantily clad females in all fighting games. It's just that DOA does it better. When it comes to visuals in general DOA is always ahead of the pack though, so it comes with the territory.

Mai is one character out of the whole female roster. Everyone plays MK for the fatality/gore. Darkstalkers isn't as popular as it should be, VF is more classy than any and SF well...is SF. You can't compare any other game to DOA considering how far doa have gone compared to those, and not to mention the game became popular from it's sexual content. The only game that come close is Soul Calibur, which I don't even like.

I don't know, at first I was reading some positive comments about the "mature" look of the characters and now it's all tits and ass like in past DOA games, talking about casual gamers of course, the hardcore fans will appreciate the changes in gameplay, but we are a minority.

On a Soul Calibur note, just wanted to mention that alot of fans felt SC4 Ivy (and I think Sophitia as well) went a little too far with the fanservice, and even alot of casuals and series vets complained about it to Project Soul, or at least expressed a desire for a tone-down. Which is why Ivy is somewhat more 'dressed up' now (though her face and voice still scream 'i'm a dude' IMO)

You could see Taki's nipples in Soul Edge. They had that going from the start. lol

I think for DOA to get rid of the PPPPP strings, DOA's gonna need another punch button. I think they have a decent system going by adding directions to get different results. I suppose they could do that more, but it might be kind of arbitrary.
